When summer comes around, you probably feel like listening to songs with that summery vibe, but with so many to choose from, it can be hard to decide what to play.

So in this article, I’ll introduce some summer tunes that I especially recommend for high school students! I’ve picked out love songs and youth anthems that students can likely relate to, so be sure to listen while reading the lyrics!

The Da-iCE song that’s been gaining popularity on TikTok and YouTube really stands out with its festival-like chants and an up-tempo melody that feels like fireworks launching one after another.

The track conveys a positive message about not getting discouraged by a single failure and trying again and again, and just listening to it gives you energy.

Released in August 2022, it’s also included on the album “SCENE.” It’s a classic that won the Excellence Award at the 64th Japan Record Awards that year.

It’s an energetic track that feels like a summer festival turned into music.

Thanks to the movie’s massive success, it’s also very popular among elementary school students.

Midsummer day!Nogizaka 46

This is a song by the idol group Nogizaka46.

It was released in 2025 as a track on their 39th single.

Chosen as the “Nogizaka46 Meiji Jingu Stadium Performance 10th Memorial Song,” it’s an up-tempo summer tune.

Its bouncy rhythm and liberating melody line feel great, making you want to take off running as soon as you hear it.

The lyrics express feelings for a loved one encountered by chance on a midsummer day, and that sweet-and-sour worldview is part of its charm.

It’s a bright piece that also spotlights the expressive performance of center member Haruka Kaki.

Fish’s LoveSuper VHS

It’s a number whose lyrics resonate with the heart, conjuring bittersweet scenes of summer.

This track by the electro-pop/new wave band Super VHS, featuring Mei Ehara, rides an urban sound to sing of a fleeting love.

Released as a 7-inch single in April 2019, it had previously been included on the September 2016 compilation album “Young Folks in Metropolis.” The cool vocals seem to accentuate the protagonist’s hidden passion and sadness.
