Iris Ohyama’s commercials: their surreal, distinctive stories are so entertaining! (11–20)
IRIS OHYAMA Massive Freezing Capacity “Made Too Much” VersionRyo Yoshizawa

This commercial promotes Iris Ohyama’s refrigerator by highlighting its large-capacity freezer through a uniquely troublesome scenario.
It presents the quirky idea that the oversized freezer leads to making too many dumplings, and the way it escalates into a complaint call even feels a bit eerie.
Although it’s depicted as a problem here, the feature is actually useful—letting you store any excess you make.
By deliberately framing it as a negative, the ad effectively brings out the positive side.
Iris Ohyama Portable Air Conditioner “The Wandering Man” Version

This commercial, which introduces a portable air conditioner you can use anywhere without installation, is titled “The Wandering Man.” A man carrying an acoustic guitar appears and, to a somewhat wistful melody, talks about the benefits of the portable air conditioner.
Also noteworthy is the characteristically Iris-style surreal humor, such as a small girl getting really into the very cool, mature-sounding song, and a scene near the end where the wandering man gets barked at by a dog.
Iris Ohyama Green “For That Person Too” / “Mornings Are the Real Thing”Ryo Yoshizawa

This is a commercial for Midori, a bottled tea produced by Iris Ohyama.
Ryo Yoshizawa, a familiar face in Iris commercials, appears as a character named Ms.
Midori.
The ad shows him drinking Midori and being surprised by how easy it is to drink and by its lingering aftertaste.
Watching this commercial will likely make many people think, “I’d like to try it at least once.”
IRIS OHYAMA daspo “Anytime, Anyone” version

This is an introductory commercial for a cordless vacuum cleaner called daspo.
It highlights daspo’s key feature: the ability to switch between two modes—Dustpan Mode and Turbo Mode.
Dustpan Mode allows cleaning using only the head motor, making it suitable for vacuuming while a child is napping or during nighttime.
IRIS OHYAMA Cordless Stick Vacuum Cleaner “This Gap” VersionRyo Yoshizawa

This scene shows Sunao Kaname in a jail cell in a commercial for a rechargeable stick vacuum.
He shouts, “Let me out of here!” but no one will free him.
Then, out of the blue, he remarks, “If it were Iris’s slim cleaner, it could fit through this gap,” introducing the stick vacuum from a wildly unexpected angle.
The absurd twist and Ryo Yoshizawa’s convincing performance are sure to make you laugh.
Iris Ohyama Futon Cleaner: ‘Actually, futons are…’ Edition

This commercial, which begins with a scene introducing the fact that futons contain many things like dust mites, dust, and pollen, is an ad for a futon vacuum cleaner.
In the commercial, it shows how using the futon cleaner to clean can effectively remove the dirt lurking in the futon.

Iris Ohyama Camera-Equipped Refrigerator “Please Don’t Look” VersionRyo Yoshizawa

This is a commercial introducing a feature that lets you check the contents of your refrigerator via smartphone.
A woman appears in front of Shoujiki Kaname, who is in prison, and starts looking through the contents of the refrigerator at his home.
She says, “Oh? You’re even chilling something like this?” Without revealing what’s actually inside, she keeps checking item after item.
Kaname pleads, “Please stop!” and grows increasingly cornered.
You don’t really know why, but the ad creates a mysterious sense of tension and makes you feel like you’re seeing something you shouldn’t.
It’s a surreal and funny commercial.
