Ressentiment is a rock band that released their first mini-album, “memento,” in 2021.
True to their name—which signifies resentment toward powerful figures and other dominant forces—they skillfully turn the darkness and antagonism inherent in human nature into songs.
Their vocalist-guitarist, Kita, has a distinctive, unadorned, almost murmuring singing style that differs from mainstream rock.
It brings out a sense of raw humanity and, to me, embodies the “music that’s different from the rest” at the heart of alternative rock.

A three-piece rock band.
Formed in 1999 by three classmates from junior high and high school, they disbanded after their final show at Shinjuku Loft in 2004, becoming known as a legendary band.
On January 1, 2014, they launched their official website and announced a reunion, revealing they would hold their first live show in ten years on June 21.
