In the world of DJs, there are “club DJs,” who primarily focus on playing music, and “turntablists,” who compete in scratching techniques.

DJ SHINTARO is a turntablist with scratching skills that Japan proudly presents to the world.

After graduating from high school, SHINTARO moved to Tokyo, following his then-girlfriend.

DJing had been a hobby at the time, but once he started taking lessons after moving, he became deeply immersed in the craft.

Practicing eight hours a day, every day, he went on to win multiple championships in DJ battles that showcase scratching skills.

Most notably, he made his debut at the Red Bull Thre3Style World Championship—an event admired by DJs worldwide—and became the first Asian and the youngest ever to win the title, earning the crown of world champion.

He’s undoubtedly a figure who will continue to energize the DJ scene in the years to come.
