Karaoke songs that are easy for middle school students to score high on
The number-one concern middle schoolers have in music is voice change.
While girls might not feel it as much, it’s a period when the vocal cords change significantly for both boys and girls, making it arguably the most difficult time to sing in your entire life.
For middle schoolers going through this, just controlling pitch can be challenging.
On top of that, recent Japanese pop songs often feature many high notes and few rests, which makes it even harder to aim for high scores.
So this time, we’ve selected songs that even middle school students with unstable voices can use to aim for high scores.
We also carefully considered how well the songs will be received, so be sure to check them out to the end.

Karaoke Songs Recommended for Junior High School Students That Are Easy to Score High On (81–90)
Wonder WorldRhythmic Toy World

Rhythmic Toy World is a rock band that has been active since the 2010s.
They’re known for a classic rock sound with strong J-pop elements and have created many catchy songs.
Among their tracks, the one I especially recommend is their new song, Wonder World.
While it doesn’t have a particularly narrow vocal range, the melody doesn’t feature complex pitch jumps, and there are a fair number of rests, so even middle schoolers with unsteady voices can sing it without trouble.
Go for a high score!
When love endsRin Oto

Rin-ne is a rapper who’s active in the overground scene and focuses on love-themed rap.
You could say he’s hugely popular, especially among junior high school girls.
Among his tracks, the one I especially recommend is “Koi ga Owareba” (When Love Ends).
Although it’s rap, it’s very melodic and built around a fairly simple vocal line, so the song is quite easy.
You can score over 90 points just by staying on pitch, so definitely consider adding it to your repertoire.
A night close to morningA-ko

Singer-songwriter A-ko, who commands an overwhelming presence in Japan’s dark-pop scene.
Her songs blend cuteness with a dark, stylish vibe, and she has dropped numerous classics to date.
Among her tracks, the one I especially recommend is Asaga Chikai Yoru (“A Night Close to Dawn”).
It’s a stylish number, but the vocal range is narrow and there aren’t complex pitch jumps, making it perfect for aiming for a high score.
Yorunagi feat. nishinaindigo la End

Indigo la End is an indie rock band formed around Enon Kawatani.
With their sophisticated musicality, they’ve gained popularity in the Japanese rock scene.
Among their tracks, the one I particularly recommend is Yonagi feat.
nishina.
It’s a collaboration with singer-songwriter nishina, featuring a calm melody with many sections that lean slightly toward a rap style.
Since the overall vocal range is narrow, even junior high school students whose voices are still unstable should be able to sing it without any trouble.
SecretNaoto Intiraymi

Naoto Inti Raymi is a singer-songwriter who gained popularity in the 2010s for his music that blends pop and Black music.
Lately, it seems he has shifted his style and is now embracing R&B-influenced pop music that’s popular among young people.
His track “Secret” is one of his more stylish works and is also relatively easy to score high with at karaoke.
It has a vibe similar to Natori’s “Overdose,” with a simple vocal line, so even those who struggle with Western-style grooves can sing it without trouble.
LOVE iswanuka

Wanudka, a singer-songwriter who gained popularity on social media and YouTube, is now supported by teens in middle and high school.
With a clean, approachable vocal tone and musical style, his songs tend to appeal to everyone, so many middle schoolers likely enjoy his music as well.
Among his tracks, the one that’s especially easy to score high with at karaoke is LOVE is.
It’s a song that softens the kind of melodic lines Sambomaster excels at.
There aren’t many high parts and you don’t need to belt, so it’s very easy to sing.

That figures.Moriyama Naotaro

From the 2000s to the present, singer-songwriter Naotaro Moriyama has continued to gain popularity with songs that create a unique worldview.
I think many middle school students are familiar with him.
Among Moriyama’s songs, the one that’s especially easy to score high with at karaoke is Samo Arinan.
Although it features a lot of falsetto, the tempo is slow and the high notes aren’t excessively high, so it’s relatively easy to aim for a high score.
