Karaoke songs that are easy for middle school students to score high on
The number-one concern middle schoolers have in music is voice change.
While girls might not feel it as much, it’s a period when the vocal cords change significantly for both boys and girls, making it arguably the most difficult time to sing in your entire life.
For middle schoolers going through this, just controlling pitch can be challenging.
On top of that, recent Japanese pop songs often feature many high notes and few rests, which makes it even harder to aim for high scores.
So this time, we’ve selected songs that even middle school students with unstable voices can use to aim for high scores.
We also carefully considered how well the songs will be received, so be sure to check them out to the end.

Karaoke Songs That Make It Easy for Junior High School Students to Score High (21–30)
Bitter VacationMrs. GREEN APPLE

Mrs.
GREEN APPLE’s new song “Bitter Vacation.” Their songs usually feature lots of high notes and tend to be very difficult, but this one is different.
For a Mrs.
GREEN APPLE track, it has a narrower vocal range and doesn’t involve complex pitch changes.
That said, it’s not a low-range song either, so most middle school boys and girls should be able to sing it without trouble.
By the way, it’s only “easy” by Mrs.
GREEN APPLE standards, so if you’re aiming for a high score, you’ll still need a fair amount of practice.
A Little Love SongMONGOL800

The classic song “Chiisana Koi no Uta” is still loved by many people today.
Although it’s an older track released in 2001, it’s a curious song that continues to be highly popular among younger generations.
I think many current junior high school students also know this song.
The opening part sits very low in the register, so many people may feel it’s difficult.
However, that low delivery is primarily a vocal choice to make it sound good; if you’re aiming for a high score in karaoke, songs like this one with lots of low notes can actually be easier to sing.
Find the key that suits you and give it a try.
bouquetback number

It’s back number’s second single, released in June 2011.
It’s a quintessential back number track—straight down-the-middle, mid-tempo guitar rock—so the melody should sink in smoothly.
When singing it at karaoke, you can probably aim for a high score just by singing naturally without overthinking it.
However, the key to scoring high is in the latter half of the chorus: when you switch between falsetto and chest voice, make sure your voice doesn’t get pulled by the previous note and become unstable.
This “voice switching” technique is on the more difficult side, so if you want to sing it well, taking some vocal lessons might be a good idea.
Only for you, clear skiesYorushika

In voice lessons, my students and I often called it Yorushika’s “Sunny” series! Among those, ‘Just a Sunny Day for You’ doesn’t go too high in range, but the rhythm in the A section is distinctive, so knowing where to cut off and where to stop is key.
I think it’s easier to get if you listen closely to the drums and try singing while clapping along.
Also, make sure to resonate through your body so you don’t end up singing too loudly.
The human body resonates like an instrument—your head and chest can vibrate.
For this song, there are spots with falsetto, so it’s easier to sing if you focus on head resonance.
Try a gentle hum to locate where you’re vibrating.
If you feel it around your brow/forehead area, that’s excellent! Keeping that gentle sensation as you transition into your singing voice will give you a falsetto-based tone and make pitching easier.
The key is not to tense up!
RPGSEKAI NO OWARI

This is SEKAI NO OWARI’s fourth major-label single, released in May 2013.
The vocalist, Fukase, has a boyish, slightly high-pitched voice, so this might be a perfect choice for junior high school students aiming for high scores.
At the beginning of the song, the original recording uses a deliberately strong pitch-correction effect for a very processed sound, but don’t worry about that—just sing it normally.
If you’re not aiming for a high score, trying to imitate that effect could be fun too (lol)! There’s a slightly high note at the end of the chorus, and if possible, singing it in a resonant chest voice without switching to falsetto will make it sound even better.
Bunny GirlAKASAKI

The hit number “Bunny Girl,” a hot topic that any junior high schooler would know, is a song by the young singer-songwriter AKASAKI.
It’s so popular nationwide that there’s hardly a day you don’t hear it on TikTok, Instagram, or YouTube Shorts.
Although its light, catchy melody stands out, the song actually boasts one of the narrowest vocal ranges in Japanese pop.
Its range is so limited that even middle schoolers going through voice changes can sing it, so it’s well worth adding to your repertoire.
Love me, Love youMrs. GREEN APPLE

This is the song “Love me, Love you” by the rock band Mrs.
GREEN APPLE, which is especially popular among people in their teens and twenties.
It’s included on the album ENSEMBLE.
Mrs.
GREEN APPLE is known for a very high-pitched male vocal, but this song might be relatively easier to sing.
The tempo isn’t too fast and it’s easy to get into the groove, so I recommend it!
