Bunbun top (whirligig)

Let’s make a traditional handmade toy called a bunbun spinning top! With a milk carton, cardboard, and kite string, you can make one right away.

Cut the material into circles, squares, or any shape you like, and stack several layers to add thickness.

It spins better if it’s at least 2 mm thick.

Make two holes in the center and thread the kite string through to form a loop, and it’s done.

Before threading the string, decorate the main body by drawing pictures or attaching colored paper—when it spins, it looks beautiful.

If you cut slits around the edge like rays and hook yarn into them, you’ll get a pretty spinning top.

Learn about magnets while having fun crafting! Here’s a magnetic Dreamland idea.

The charm of this project is that you can make a mysterious, entertaining toy that moves using capsules and magnets.

You’ll need origami paper, a white board, construction paper, magnets, empty gashapon capsules, poster paper, a color wave sheet, glue, scissors, and pens.

Draw roads on the board and decorate with construction paper and the color wave sheet.

Put a car illustration on an empty capsule and place a magnet inside—then it’s done! Move the capsule with the car illustration by guiding a magnet from the back of the board!

Splash Ferris Wheel

Even kids who are reluctant to take a bath might get excited if there are toys! Here’s how to make a super fun “Splash Ferris Wheel.” First, cut a milk carton to create the supports for the Ferris wheel.

Next, make slits in a pool noodle with a utility knife, then insert six plastic ice cream spoons around it like a Ferris wheel.

Slide a chopstick through the pool noodle and insert both ends into the two slits in the milk carton, and you’re done! For a finishing touch, attaching toy capsules to the spoons will make it look even more like a real Ferris wheel, which is highly recommended.

Operation: Let the fish swim in the tray

Even kids who don’t like bath time might hop right in! Here’s the “Let’s Make Fish Swim on a Tray!” strategy.

Just draw fish with a permanent marker on the plastic trays that packaged meat or fish, cut them out, and you’re done! Float them in the bath and say, “There are fish swimming in the tub!” Wet trays stick to the bath wall, so besides fish, you can cut out letters for a little learning activity, or make your child’s favorite characters—lots of fun options! Let’s make a big ball and have fun! Here’s an idea for a garbage-bag ball.

It’s a DIY ball you can make with materials you have at home.

All you need are a trash bag and vinyl tape or duct tape.

After sealing the bottom of the trash bag with tape, blow air into it and tie the opening.

Wrap vinyl tape around the inflated bag, and you’re done! Its fluffy feel is addictive, and kids are sure to get excited! The soft material means it won’t hurt even if it hits you, which is a nice bonus.
