After they’re finished, kids can play pretend together with their horses or use them as decorations, expanding the fun beyond the craft itself.

Fun to make in childcare! A special feature on horse-themed craft ideas (11–20)
Arrange a horse origami into a rocking horse!
From Christmas ornaments to zodiac decorations, this origami idea can do it all—and it’s fun to make with kids! By choosing different colors of origami paper and decorating with pens and stickers, you can create a horse that suits many occasions.
All you need are origami paper, pens, and stickers.
If you want to hang it as an ornament or interior decoration, attach string, fishing line, or yarn to the back.
The tips of the finished horse’s legs and tail are pointed, so handle with care to avoid injury.
I tried making a horse out of cardboard!

Many of you probably have cardboard boxes at home from deliveries and the like.
This time, let’s make a horse with a three-dimensional, beautiful form! What you’ll need: cardboard, a utility knife, a cutting mat, a pen, a ruler, scissors, glue, a hot glue gun, and an awl, among other items.
First, sketch the parts on the cardboard with a pen.
Next, cut out the parts with the utility knife, then refine the shapes with scissors.
After that, attach the cut pieces according to the thickness of the cardboard.
Finally, assemble the parts—adjusting the orientation as you glue them—and you’re done.
It’s a dynamic and beautiful piece, isn’t it?
Song for drawing the Horse

Perfect for when you want to draw a horse but don’t know how! Here’s an idea for drawing the zodiac Horse using a drawing song.
First, use ovals to represent the head and body, then imagine raindrops as you draw the neck and legs.
Use the “horns” part of the lyrics for the ears, and the “grass” part for the mane and hooves.
Finally, add the eyes, nose, and tail, and you’re done! By drawing along with the song, kids can easily draw a horse.
Start with a pencil sketch so you can erase, then trace over it with a pen to finish.
Horse made with torn-paper collage

It’s fun to see small torn pieces come together into a big picture! This is one of the projects we hope children will enjoy making together with teachers or guardians, appropriate to their age.
You’ll need paper or postcards, origami paper in various colors, glue or a tape runner, and a pen for sketching.
For preschool classes, it’s also a good idea to adapt the activity as practice in cutting pieces to a suitable size with scissors.
If the pieces are made too small, the pasting step can become difficult, so proceed with care as you work toward the finished piece!
A horse you can draw in 5 steps

A New Year’s card that lets kids’ individuality shine is sure to warm the recipient’s heart! This is an idea we highly recommend for preschool classes.
Many children may not know where to start when they begin drawing.
The key here is that the drawing order is predetermined, making it easy to get started.
Plus, it’s a wonderful idea that still brings out each child’s unique personality.
In step 5, try adding your own touches—like coloring and lettering.
3D horse made of Perler beads

Iron beads are a handmade toy you can even find at 100-yen shops.
You arrange small pipe-shaped pieces on a pegboard and fuse them with the heat of an iron to enjoy all kinds of designs.
Basically, you make flat designs, but like this horse idea, you can combine flat pieces to create three-dimensional results too.
Iron beads are sold in a wide variety of colors, so try making a horse in your favorite shades.
Add a horn and it might even become a unicorn!

Puppet horse

You can put it on your hand and make the mouth chomp! Here’s a handmade horse puppet idea.
You’ll use a sock, foam sheets, felt, yarn, and googly eyes.
Stack two half-circle pieces of foam sheet and tape the straight edges together, then attach them to the cut end of the sock with a hot glue gun.
Line the contact surfaces of the foam with pink felt and glue on teeth made from white felt.
Finally, add the facial features, a yarn mane, and felt ears—and you’re done!
