Mysterious Pocket

“Fushigi na Pocket” is a song about a dreamlike pocket that makes biscuits multiply every time you pat it.
Many people may have heard it in childhood and tried patting their own pockets over and over.
You can enjoy it together with the choreography—patting your pocket with a light pop-pop, or gently swaying as you imagine having such a pocket.
It’s a beloved children’s song that has been cherished for many years, with adorable anecdotes like kids actually putting biscuits in their pockets, patting them, and ending up crumbling them to bits.
aye-aye

Ai Ai is a song about a little monkey, a character that often appears in children’s favorite picture books.
Lyricist Hiromi Aida wrote the lyrics after being asked to create a cute animal song and coming across the aye-aye, which lives on Madagascar, in an illustrated encyclopedia.
It’s perfect not only as a choral piece but also for school plays where a monkey character appears! To help children enjoy singing it even more with choreography, it might be nice to show them photos or illustrations and say, “This is the kind of monkey the song is about.”

Song of Suihei-sanSuper Simple Songs

Let’s sing an ocean song called “Suihei-san no Uta,” with its relaxed, heartwarming melody and fun lyrics.
The playful words are packed with lots of sea creatures, making them tricky to memorize.
It’s a fun song featuring octopuses, jellyfish, seahorses, and more, and it’s a singing game where you see how many animal names you can remember as you sing.
Since it originally comes from an English song, it’s also helpful for children learning English.
Because so many different sea creatures appear, you might recognize some you already know.
You can learn, “Oh, so these kinds of creatures live in the sea,” test your memory, and enjoy singing it in lots of different ways.
Start SongFukuda Sho / Suzuki Tsubasa

Start Song is an original track by play-song writers Sho Fukuda—who also provides music for NHK’s Okaasan to Issho—and Tsubasa Suzuki, who likewise writes play songs and serves as a visiting professor in a university department of early childhood education.
As the title suggests, it’s a fast-paced number that feels perfect for kicking things off on a high note.
The original choreography is full of energy, with clapping, stomping, and jumping—just right for little kids.
It’s an excellent choice for a performance by a class of younger children!
The Puppy Police Officer

When it comes to classic children’s songs that have been beloved and sung for many years, “The Policeman Dog” (Inu no Omawari-san) is a must! The lyrics were written by Yoshimi Sato, and the music was composed by Megumi Ohnaka.
At the 35th Children’s Song Competition, Nonoka Murakata delivered a performance of this piece with vocal ability incredible for a two-year-old, earning the Silver Prize and drawing a lot of attention.
This song has enjoyed enduring support over the years, and it’s one you’ll want every child to hear at least once.
It might be fun to fully get into character and sing it as the policeman and the lost child!
