Wall decoration with fireworks in relief

You can make a picture that looks like fireworks spreading across the night sky using a paper plate and similar materials.
It’s beautiful, so give it a try! First, paint the surface of a paper plate black.
Once it’s painted, make several cuts toward the center and cut out long, narrow triangles.
After cutting them out, turn the black side to the front and stick on round stickers or similar decorations.
When the round stickers are nicely placed, attach it onto another backing sheet that’s been painted black.
It will look three-dimensional, as if the fireworks are popping out.
It’s great for adding a seasonal touch when you put it on a wall or by the front door.

Shell ornament

How about making origami shell decorations for Tanabata? They’re easy to make: you only fold for the first half, and after that you cut evenly spaced slits.
Open it up, align the corners along the diagonal, glue them together, and you’re done.
The slits look like a spiral shell and it’s very pretty.
If you cut the origami into quarter-size pieces first, you can make cute little shells, and linking those shells together is adorable too.
Used as Tanabata decorations, they might evoke the image of shells living in the Milky Way.

Let’s make a seashell out of origami that captures the feeling of summer.
Fold the origami paper into a triangle twice, then unfold it once.
Fold the left and right corners in to meet the center line.
Fold those corners back outward, then fold the creases so they align with the center line.
Next, tuck the left and right corners up toward the center line so they go underneath the small triangle, and fold the tip of the small triangle slightly inward.
Finally, fold the top corner down to shape it like a shell, and you’re done.
Add patterns to make it cute!
Cute morning glory

Let’s make colorful and cute morning glories out of origami that bloom cheerfully under the summer sun.
First, fold the origami paper in half into a square twice, then unfold it.
Next, fold all four corners toward the center, flip it over, and slightly fold in the four corners.
Flip it over again, and for each loose corner, make two diagonal folds so it forms a peak; after doing this for all four corners, open the paper.
Finally, turn the paper over, and fold the four corners you just peaked toward the center along the creases, and you’re done.
Try making lots in different colors and decorating with them!
Plump Wind Chime

How about making a wind chime out of origami that captures the feeling of summer with its cool tone and a strip of paper swaying in the breeze? First, fold the origami paper in half into a square twice.
Next, draw lines on the square as if shaping flower petals, then cut along the lines with scissors.
Snip off a tiny bit in the center so there’s a small hole.
Open the paper; once it looks like a flower, gather the tips of the petals toward the center, overlap them, and glue them down.
Finally, thread a string through and attach a tanzaku (paper strip) to the string to finish.
If you thread a small bell onto the string, it will make a sound and feel even more like a wind chime.
This softly rounded, cute wind chime is perfect to make and display by your window!
ice cream

Let’s make an original, refreshing ice cream that’s perfect for preschoolers, using just a single sheet of origami.
Prepare one sheet of origami paper and fold it into a triangle.
Then fold the left and right sides toward the center line.
Finally, glue it onto construction paper, add round stickers as toppings, and use colored pens to decorate to make a delicious-looking ice cream.
It’s also great to display indoors as a summer decoration.
penguin

Here’s how to make a penguin from a single sheet of origami paper.
First, fold the paper into a triangle and crease well.
Then fold the top edge down to meet the crease you just made.
As you fold the body and flippers, keep an eye on the left-right balance to make a neat finish.
Adjust the proportions, like the roundness of the head and body, and you’re done.
Finally, color in and draw the eyes and beak to make your penguin even cuter.
Try making this three-dimensional, summery penguin!
