Fun Demon Slayer trivia and facts to spark conversation (21–30)
In Water Breathing, there is a form that causes demons to feel no pain.
There’s a Water Breathing form that doesn’t make demons feel pain: Fifth Form, Blessing of the Drought.
Tanjiro used this form against the Mother Spider Demon during the Natagumo Mountain battle.
At first, he tried to attack with First Form, but when he realized the Mother Spider Demon wished for death, he switched to Fifth Form.
Because Fifth Form inflicts almost no pain on the opponent, it’s called a merciful sword strike used only when a demon offers up its own neck.
In the fanbook, demons talk about how each breathing style feels when you’re cut by it, and apparently Water Breathing is relatively painless to be cut by in the first place.
Shinobu Kocho is a Hashira and a swordswoman of the Demon Slayer Corps, but she cannot cut off a demon’s head.
Shinobu Kocho is a character who, despite being a swordsman unable to sever a demon’s neck, holds a strong position as the Insect Hashira.
While she has excellent strength for thrusting her blade, her lack of strength in swinging it prevents her from decapitating.
However, there’s another reason she can remain a Hashira.
She independently developed a poison that kills demons, and how she uses this poison is a key point in the story.
Her full-scale battle is against Doma in the Infinity Castle arc, so it’s only natural to be curious about how that poison comes into play there.
Inosuke Hashibira can dislocate all the joints in his body.
With the catchphrase “reckless headlong charge,” Inosuke Hashibira is a character known for his distinctive boar’s head.
Raised in the mountains, he’s a somewhat rough-and-tumble boy, but he taught himself breathing and combat techniques, and his talent is exceptional.
One of his special skills is the ability to dislocate all the joints in his body at will.
According to him, if his head fits, he can get in anywhere.
This is depicted in the Entertainment District Arc of the anime.
Of course, he can also put his dislocated joints back into place.
If Kibutsuji Muzan dies, all demons will perish.
Muzan Kibutsuji, portrayed as Tanjiro’s greatest archenemy and the final boss, is described as an existence whose death would bring about the downfall of all demons.
The demons that appear in the story were originally human, transformed by Muzan’s hand, and because Muzan and all demons are connected through his abilities, this setup is revealed in the latter part of the narrative.
The connection between Muzan and the demons is also referred to as a curse, and it is depicted alongside the episode explaining how the being known as Muzan Kibutsuji came into existence.
There are demons who use a supernatural power known as Blood Demon Art.
Demons possess superior physical abilities compared to humans and can heal injuries easily.
Moreover, some demons can use a supernatural power called Blood Demon Art.
The type of Blood Demon Art varies by demon, including abilities like ice, water, fire, and illusion.
It’s typically used by demons who serve directly under Muzan Kibutsuji as part of the Twelve Kizuki, or by demons who have consumed many humans.
Nezuko, the demon who is the younger sister of the protagonist Tanjiro, does not eat humans, but she can use a Blood Demon Art called Exploding Blood, which burns only demons.
With that power, she has saved her brother and members of the Demon Slayer Corps from danger many times.
Zenitsu Agatsuma can only use the First Form of Thunder Breathing.
Zenitsu Agatsuma is known as a user of Thunder Breathing, and his signature move is First Form: Thunderclap and Flash, an iaijutsu strike launched from a lightning-fast step.
While Thunder Breathing has forms up to the Sixth, it’s depicted that Zenitsu could only master the First Form.
Although relying on just one technique puts him at a disadvantage, he faces various demons using only this move and its applications.
The line in the story that “the First Form is the foundation of all forms” serves as foreshadowing, leading to Zenitsu’s original Seventh Form—one of his standout moments.
Tanjiro Kamado has a superhuman sense of smell.
Tanjiro Kamado, the protagonist, often draws attention for his growth and flashy techniques, but his keen sense of smell is also a crucial element in both the story and his battles.
This sense of smell isn’t just the ability to distinguish simple odors; it’s portrayed as something that can read a person’s character, the truth or falsehood of their words, and even their psychological state.
In combat, this ability proves useful as well: he discerns openings in his opponent’s defense by scent, visualized as “Threads of Opening,” allowing him to seize the advantageous moment.
It’s said to be on par with, or even surpass, the abilities of real-world police dogs.
