One type is a club that functions like a community for enjoying specialized music.

Japan has a particularly well-developed culture of the latter, and club music has consistently been popular since the 1990s.
This time, we’ve picked out the latest tracks from Japan’s club music scene.
We’ve selected from a variety of genres, including EDM and house, so we think even hardcore fans of electronic music will enjoy it.

Toxic Sweet feat. JP THE WAVYm-flo

An interstellar love story between a Martian and a human, painted over a reggae sound that evokes tropical beaches.
m-flo sings of a love on a cosmic scale.
The protagonist’s feelings as he’s drawn to a captivating yet dangerous Martian woman unfold alongside tropical, island-flavored sounds.
Released in August 2019, the track was performed with guest JP THE WAVY at m-flo’s 20th-anniversary live show “KYO,” where their energetic performance captivated the audience and blew away the summer heat.
It’s a recommended song for those who want to enjoy both the liberating feeling of a relaxing day at a summer beach and a grand, space-set narrative.
BLAZESandaime Jē Sōru Burazāzu fromu Eguzairu Toraibu

The song that Sandaime J SOUL BROTHERS released in July 2024 expresses a passion that blazes like fire.
Its powerful sound and positive message are key attractions.
You can feel their drive to break conventions and pursue new possibilities.
Since their formation in 2010, the group has released numerous hit songs.
In particular, “R.Y.U.S.E.I.” achieved major success, including winning the Japan Record Award.
This new track conveys the importance of continuing to take on challenges, and its danceable beat that makes you want to move is also captivating.

This is a track by Yuya Tegoshi, who is active as a solo artist.
Released for streaming on November 11, 2024 to coincide with his birthday, the work was co-produced with a Korean music production team and strongly reflects elements of electronic dance music.
Featuring powerful beats and energetic melodies that incorporate styles like dubstep, the lyrics mirror Tegoshi’s tough times, hard work, and the achievements he gained by overcoming them.

Love Groovin’ (ft. Hitomitoi)DE DE MOUSE

Love Groovin’ (ft.
Hitomitoi) hints at new possibilities for Euro disco.
This piece is a collaboration between DE DE MOUSE—Daisuke Endo’s solo project—TANUKI, and Hitomitoi.
The sound is built largely around high tones, and Hitomitoi’s even higher-pitched vocals add a refreshing touch.
It also serves as a sequel to their previous collaboration, Night of Neon Light, and the CD jacket—reminiscent of 1980s anime—is another highlight.
CHOMPTokyo Machine

burnilliomote

illiomote is a female duo band.
They wrote Yakedo as the theme song for the short film The Day I Knew It Was Love.
Set to a laid-back, comfortable beat, the track sings about lovers growing apart.
The key point is how the emotional pain caused by their mutual misalignment is likened to a burn.
Another draw is the positive message that comes through when you listen to the song as a whole.
It’s also a great choice for relaxing with your partner.
Let Me KnowPerfume

When it comes to club music artists in Japan, many people would probably name Perfume.
Club music hasn’t become mainstream in Japan yet, but what’s amazing is that Perfume has continued to stay popular in that landscape.
Listening to this track, where club sounds and pop sensibilities blend together, I feel like you can understand why Perfume is so well-loved.
