[2026] Japanese club music. J-DANCE

Broadly speaking, there are two types of clubs in the world.

One type is a club that functions like a community for enjoying specialized music.

The other is a club that plays tracks you can dance to, above all else.

Japan has a particularly well-developed culture of the latter, and club music has consistently been popular since the 1990s.

This time, we’ve picked out the latest tracks from Japan’s club music scene.

We’ve selected from a variety of genres, including EDM and house, so we think even hardcore fans of electronic music will enjoy it.

Please relax and enjoy to the very end!

Stranger ThingsAmPm & Shigge

You might be able to savor a somewhat nostalgic vibe with “Stranger Things.” It’s a track released by the music duo AmPm as an advance single from their album.

The album’s theme is travel, and this song seems to focus on New York.

It was reportedly created with inspiration from Crystal Waters’ classic “Gypsy Woman,” which sings about the city of New York, so you can also feel a touch of ’90s essence.

BANVOX – With You (Official Audio)
With Youbanvox

BANVOX is one of Japan’s leading music producers.

There aren’t many Japanese EDM artists, and on top of that, their release frequency tends to be slower compared to the global scene.

Even in such an EDM landscape, BANVOX keeps dropping new tracks consistently.

His latest song is “With You.” It’s an EDM track with house elements, centered around high tones, but the drop packs a solid low end.

If you listen on speakers that excel in the bass range, it’s incredibly powerful—definitely give it a try.

MalfunctionBuffalo Daughter

Buffalo Daughter is a rock band that’s highly acclaimed worldwide.

As part of their two-weeks-in-a-row release project, they unveiled “Malfunction.” The title means a breakdown or failure.

In the song, we hear an AI imagining something—then malfunctioning and going out of control.

By sampling and looping an AI voice, they create a chaotic atmosphere.

Its appeal lies in being somewhat comical and somewhat eerie at the same time.

When you want to sway your body to something laid-back, Hibana (Sparks) is also a great pick.

This track was released ahead of Cornelius’s album Dream In Dream.

Keigo Oyamada wrote both the lyrics and music.

The lyrics compare the “sparks” in the title to various things, capturing those moments—like when an emotional switch flips—that are hard to express in other words.

Another highlight is the way the repeated melody creates a uniquely uncanny atmosphere.

OtonokeCreepy Nuts

Creepy Nuts – Otonoke [Official MV] [Dandadan Opening]
OtonokeCreepy Nuts

This track leads music and the occult into a realm no one could have imagined.

Released in October 2024, the opening theme for the TV anime “Dandadan” brilliantly captures Creepy Nuts’ unique worldview.

DJ Matsunaga’s beats fuse with R-Shitei’s eerily tinged rap, deftly portraying how music can possess the human heart.

Deeply reflecting the anime’s atmosphere, the track is perfect not only for hip-hop fans but also for those who love the occult and horror.

By listening to this piece, you’re sure to experience the transcendent power of music.

THE EDGES BETWEEN THE LINEDJ AKi + YELLOCK

DJ AKi + YELLOCK – THE EDGES BETWEEN THE LINE LIVE (at WOMB, Tokyo – July 2, 2022)
THE EDGES BETWEEN THE LINEDJ AKi + YELLOCK

AKi, a drum and bass artist highly acclaimed not only in Japan but worldwide, has collaborated with virtual artist YELLOCK on “THE EDGES BETWEEN THE LINE.” This track is guaranteed to send the energy soaring if it’s played in a club.

With a beautifully crafted rise and fall, it never gets boring—female vocal samples and wind-like sound effects are used to great effect throughout.

On top of that, it all comes together with a modern sheen, leaving you with a refreshed, purified feeling after the last note fades.

GADORO delivers a standout track that radiates a deep affection for music and a distinctive way of enjoying it.

Set over a sound that incorporates elements of club music, the lyrics unfold with sharp observations of everyday life and a unique point of view.

It paints a portrait of someone who prefers chain-restaurant meals and casual fashion over a life of luxury, embedding a down-to-earth sensibility as its message.

Included on the album TAKANABE, released in April 2024, the song’s music video features comedian Machiura Pink, bringing its humor-filled world to life on screen.

It’s a recommended listen for winding down at the end of the day or when you want to reconnect with your true self.
