A must-see for low-voiced women! Popular songs that are easy to sing at karaoke

These days, many songs for both women and men are in higher keys, so there are probably many women with lower voices who feel, “I can’t find songs I can sing because my voice is low,” or “I’m looking for lower-key songs for karaoke.” Forcing yourself to sing songs that don’t suit your natural voice can hurt your throat, and it can be stressful when you can’t sing the way you want.

But don’t worry! There are plenty of songs that sound captivating even with a low voice.

In this article, we’ll introduce lots of songs that women with lower ranges can sing comfortably and confidently.

Female Artists (221–230)

With their high sense of musicality, Brandy Senki stands out even among girl bands.

If you’re a woman with a refined sense of style, you’ve probably heard of them.

Among their songs, the one I especially recommend is 27:00.

While the chorus does go a bit higher, it’s still on the lower side compared to typical J-pop.

The A and B sections stay low in a way that brings out the charm of lower female voices, so open your mouth a bit wider and sing with a resonant, overtone-rich vocal placement.

KanadeJUJU

This is a cover single released by JUJU in September 2020, with the original sung by Sukima Switch.

The reason she can coolly pull off covering a male-vocal song like this is likely thanks to the appeal of JUJU’s midrange.

Kanade is included on JUJU’s first male-cover album, Ore no Request, which features many other wonderful covers of songs originally sung by male vocalists.

If you’re interested, definitely give the whole album a listen—you’ll find plenty of tips for women with lower voices who want to sing these songs, too!

Tears of YesterdayGARNET CROW

This is the 25th single by the Japanese rock band GARNET CROW, released in July 2007.

It was also used as the opening theme for the anime Detective Conan.

The song itself has a very catchy, easy-to-hum melody, and the vocalist, Yuri Nakamura, has an exceptionally appealing low voice for a female singer.

For women with similarly low vocal ranges, this is a highly recommended choice for karaoke.

For a female-vocal track, the lowest notes in the vocal melody are quite low in many places, which is another reason it’s great for singers with deeper voices.

Be sure to sing those low sections with strength and support so your voice doesn’t get buried in the backing!

Dong, Nan, Xi, BeiToki Asako

Dong, Nan, Xi, BeiToki Asako

Asako Toki is a female singer-songwriter and the daughter of jazz saxophonist Hideshi Toki.

Known for her high sense of musical taste, her appeal lies in a genreless style that incorporates a wide range of influences, including jazz of course.

Among her songs, one I especially recommend is Dong, Nan, Xi, Bei.

With a sound close to Chinese pop, it’s a stylish piece that also shines with distinctly Chinese pop melodies.

Given the style, you might expect a high vocal line, but surprisingly the range is quite narrow, making it an easy song to sing for women with lower voices.

Bewitching Goldfish is a female R&B duo gaining popularity for authentic R&B.

They embody genuine Black music by blending deep R&B with hip-hop, and their high level of musicianship has earned strong acclaim from hardcore music enthusiasts.

Among their songs, the one I especially recommend is Gasoline.

It has a very narrow vocal range with no drastic pitch jumps in any section.

Instead, it requires a strong sense of groove—something many Japanese singers struggle with—but for those accustomed to singing Black music, it should be a very easy song to perform.

Seimei (Voice-Life)tuki.

Seimei (Voice-Life)tuki.

Released on May 26, 2025, tuki.’s “Seimei” is a very short song—under three minutes—structured as Verse A → Verse B → Chorus → Bridge → Last Chorus.

The melody is easy to remember and doesn’t require belting, so it’s comfortable to sing gently in head voice.

The tempo is very relaxed, so breathing shouldn’t be an issue either.

To summarize the key points: the A section sits a bit low, so avoid squeezing your throat—raise your eyebrows firmly, and imagine releasing the sound slowly right in front of you as you sing.

In fact, rather than only practicing high notes, low notes are surprisingly important! Once your low range is stable, it will directly support your high notes, greatly improving your overall vocal balance.

Also, unfamiliar pitches use more air than you think, so make sure to take in plenty of breath through your mouth!

Women Artists (231–240)

Immoral SummerNogizaka 46

Nogizaka46’s “Immoral Summer,” which became available for streaming starting in July 2025.

Since the lyrics are packed with summery words, it might be a good idea to start learning it now for the coming season! Rather than a “cute, idol-like” tune, it has a slightly cool vibe that makes you want to sing along.

The overall range leans more toward the mid to low register than high notes, so it’s a song you can comfortably sing in your natural voice.

That said, one thing to watch out for when singing mid–low songs is that if you let it just flow without intention, it can lose dynamics and end up sounding dull.

Keep your facial muscles lifted, aim to resonate around the glabella area, and be mindful of accenting the first beat of each measure! Since it’s a group song, there’s hardly any rest when you sing it solo, but it’s totally fine to prioritize the parts you want to sing.

There’s probably choreography too, so try incorporating it and have fun!
