A must-see for low-voiced women! Popular songs that are easy to sing at karaoke

These days, many songs for both women and men are in higher keys, so there are probably many women with lower voices who feel, “I can’t find songs I can sing because my voice is low,” or “I’m looking for lower-key songs for karaoke.” Forcing yourself to sing songs that don’t suit your natural voice can hurt your throat, and it can be stressful when you can’t sing the way you want.

But don’t worry! There are plenty of songs that sound captivating even with a low voice.

In this article, we’ll introduce lots of songs that women with lower ranges can sing comfortably and confidently.

Find your new favorite track!

Women Artists (251–260)

BohemianKatsuragi Yuki

This was Yuki Katsuragi’s seventh single, released in May 1983.

It’s crafted as a rock song that brings out the full appeal of Yuki Katsuragi, whose husky singing voice is so compelling.

That powerful voice could easily hold its own against male vocalists! It would also be an excellent karaoke choice for women with lower voices.

However, no matter how attractive Yuki Katsuragi’s husky tone may be, please do not try to sing in a way that deliberately damages your own voice.

Speaking as a vocal coach, I want to strongly emphasize and caution you on that point.

Female Artists (261–270)

vexing lipsTakahashi Mariko

Mari Takahashi released her 18th single in May 1992.

Known for her calm and very “mature” voice and singing, Takahashi is highly acclaimed—and this song showcases that charm to the fullest.

It’s also a great choice for karaoke, not only for those who struggle with high notes but also for anyone wanting to project a sophisticated, adult feminine vibe.

Come to think of it, I’ve directed and recorded male singers covering this song several times in the past, and it brought out a different side of its appeal compared to a female vocal.

I can definitely recommend it as a women’s song that also works beautifully when sung by men.

East Of Eden is a girls’ rock band formed in 2023.

Even among Japan’s all-female rock bands, they boast a notably high level of musicianship and have earned strong praise from hardcore Japanese rock aficionados.

Of all their songs, the one I especially recommend is IKIZAMA.

It’s orthodox rock, but it stands out for its intense sound with a hint of hard rock flavor.

While the track’s appeal lies in its sharp, powerful vocals, the range is surprisingly compact.

For women with lower voices that have richness in the midrange, this song can really bring out their strengths.

Brandy Senki’s new track “Last Live.” Brandy Senki is known for a rock foundation blended with Black music influences like jazz and funk, but this piece is unusually crafted as straight-ahead, classic rock.

The guitar riff, which evokes a sense of delicacy, is particularly striking.

While the song doesn’t have a narrow vocal range, the high phrases appear only briefly, and the core sits mostly in the low to mid register.

Since the chorus is especially low, it’s an ideal pick for women with lower voices.

Having finally made their major debut, the girls’ band Brandy Senki has been attracting attention not only in the Japanese rock scene but also in the mainstream.

They’ve already produced several great songs, but the one we especially recommend for women with lower voices is Fix.

While it’s not exactly a low-pitched song, the overall range is kept modest, making it perfectly manageable for singers with deeper voices.

Its relaxed tempo also makes it easy to make simple course corrections, so it’s a good pick for those who aren’t very confident in their singing.

Mizuniukikusa is a band that’s gained popularity for its nostalgic style.

Their music features dreamy melodies with a distinctly Japanese feel, and their unparalleled sound has earned them a strong following among die-hard band enthusiasts.

Among their songs, my top recommendation is Cinematic Romance.

Rooted in Showa-era pop, it frequently features smooth mid-to-low vocal parts that are especially friendly for lower-voiced female singers.

Be sure to add it to your repertoire.

Not bad.Sekitori Hana

Singer-songwriter Hana Sekitori has gained popularity for her deeply affecting musicality.

Her voice is perfectly described as rounded and warm, and you can always hear the emotion in her slightly lower-range vocals.

Among her songs, the one especially recommended for women with lower voices is “Warukunai” (“Not Bad”).

Reminiscent of Miyuki Nakajima’s style, it features richly resonant mid-to-low phrases throughout every section, from the verse to the chorus.

The vocal line is very simple, making it an easy song to sing as well.
