telescope

[Lunar Eclipse] Observe the night sky with a handmade telescope! [How to make one]
telescope

Believe it or not, you can make a telescope using only items from the 100-yen shop! Doing some stargazing with a handmade telescope sounds super exciting, doesn’t it? If you’re an elementary school student interested in making things or in astronomy, definitely give it a try! The key for the telescope’s lenses is to combine a pair of reading glasses with a magnifying glass.

A potato chip tube works perfectly for the telescope body, so it’s highly recommended.

It’s fine to observe the Moon with your finished telescope, but be sure never to look at the Sun! Have fun making a telescope you can proudly show off to your friends and family.

Not only is it easy to make with a straightforward method, but you can create something that looks cool and is functional—sure to be something you’ll want to show off to your friends.

By adding small tweaks—like a coin-sorting feature—you can finish a project that surprises everyone without looking like you cut corners! Be sure to use this idea as a reference and make your summer homework a big success!

Vegetable Stamp Art

Vegetable Stamp Art

Many people are likely looking for easy science projects or crafts for lower elementary school students.

For you, we recommend “vegetable stamps.” Cut various vegetables, apply ink to the cross-sections, and make stamps.

Since each vegetable has a different cross-section, you could even turn it into a quiz-style project.

Using the stamps to create pictures is also a great idea.

food sample

[Food Samples] 100-Yen Store Remake! Easy and Cute Cream Soda DIY Tutorial
food sample

Many adults enjoy making food replicas as a hobby! If you make them at home with family or friends during summer vacation, you’re sure to get hooked by how fun it is.

Food replicas can seem tricky because of handling wax or inks, but you can use gel candles from a 100-yen shop: remove the candle from its container, melt it, pour it back into the container with parts that look like ice, and chill it—before you know it, you’ve got a drink-themed food replica.

Float “ice cream” made from silicone adhesive on top to make a cream soda, too! Give it a try.

Make a bow and arrow with straws!

Make a Bow and Arrow from Straws! Recycled Craft! (For 1st–2nd Grade Elementary Students, About 20 Minutes) #craft #handmade_toy
Make a bow and arrow with straws!

A piece you worked hard to make yourself becomes twice as fun if you can play with it afterward, right? So this time, we’re introducing a bow and arrow you can make with straws.

You can use either thick boba straws or regular straws.

Besides the straws, you’ll just need common household items like a toilet paper roll and rubber bands, so it’s easy to prepare.

The projectile that the bow shoots is made from the toilet paper roll and rubber bands.

Make the bow using a straw and a spherical Styrofoam ball.

Once it’s finished, just aim and shoot at targets made from paper plates or balloons.

Kids will enjoy crafting it with the excitement of being able to play with it after it’s done.

Let’s make a train out of a milk carton

[Handmade Toy] Let's Make a Train with a Milk Carton!
Let's make a train out of a milk carton

A must for train lovers! Let’s make a train using a milk carton.

First, cut off the bottom 5 cm of the carton.

Open up the remaining part and cut it into four large panels.

Accordion-fold each of the four panels and pack them into the bottom section.

Secure them firmly with tape so nothing comes out.

Next, tape magnets to both sides so the trains can couple together.

Finally, decorate the train with construction paper and seal it with packing tape to finish.

Try making trains in various colors and designs and connect them freely as you play!

Hand-kneaded soap

Like Clay!? Easy Aroma Soap Making (Soap Base Version)
Hand-kneaded soap

Do you know about making hand-kneaded soap? First, warm the soap base until it becomes clay-like, then add colorants to tint it.

This will make it almost like real modeling clay.

After that, just knead it into any shape you like, as if you were playing with clay.

Once you’ve shaped it, let it dry to finish.

With a bit of creativity, you can make any kind of soap—animals, stars, and more.

Choosing a summer-themed motif would also make it great for an independent research project.

By the way, if you want to add a scent, using essential oils is recommended.
