switchblade

Would you like to make a magic knife, the kind you often see among party goods? This knife is completely safe: when it touches the body, the blade retracts into the handle.
You can also play with it after making it! The main materials are a toilet paper roll for the blade, rubber bands to create the mechanism, silver origami paper to cover the blade, and black origami paper or black vinyl tape for the handle.
You only need scissors and glue as tools, so it’s a craft you can safely introduce to lower-grade elementary school children.
robot arm

The magic hand you see in toy sections and the like—the one that’s handy for picking up items a little out of reach or retrieving something that’s fallen where you can’t reach—can actually be made easily with this idea.
The materials are very simple: two paper cups, a paper towel tube, construction paper, and string.
Just make a hole in the bottom of one paper cup and attach it to the paper towel tube, then combine it with a tube made from a paper cup and colored construction paper that serves as the gripper inside.
You can put it together in about an hour!
sand candle

Here’s a science project idea that adapts sand art using colorful sand.
Make cute and romantic sand candles and become the star of your class! It’s super easy: place a candle wick in the center of a glass and add sand little by little with a spoon.
The fun of this project is trying different things—experiment with color combinations, adjust the amounts, or mix the sands.
There are also sand candle kits available, so check those out if you want an easy start.
After you’re done, light it in the dark and let it soothe you!
In conclusion
We introduced a variety of cool crafts that even lower-grade students can easily make: magnetic sand slime, boomerangs, origami spinning tops, wind chimes, and archery. All of them use materials you can find around you. How about making and playing with them together with friends for your summer vacation project? Be sure to find your favorite creation and make it a wonderful independent study project!
