Karaoke for Beginners: Easy-to-Sing Songs for Men (41–50)

Become a flowerflumpool

flumpool - Become a Flower (Music Video)
Become a flowerflumpool

It was flumpool’s major-label debut single released exclusively via digital distribution in October 2008.

The song ranges from mid- to up-tempo, and its vocal melody is built from comparatively broad phrases, which likely makes it feel the easiest to sing.

Since there isn’t much pitch variation, it’s also one of the best choices for people who don’t usually sing to select at karaoke.

However, because the vocal line is relatively flat, if you sing without being mindful of the rests, there’s a risk it will turn into a very boring performance.

So when you sing it, it’s best to study the song beforehand and pay close attention to the rests.

HANABIMr.Children

Mr.Children 「HANABI」 MUSIC VIDEO
HANABIMr.Children

Mr.Children is a band loved by people of all ages.

Their distinctive high tones have captivated many listeners.

The melodies are easy to grasp, so as long as you can hit the vocal notes, their songs should be relatively easy to sing.

If you belt too much, you might end up breaking the song’s atmosphere, so you’ll need the technique of holding back while delivering high notes.

By singing as if you’re speaking to someone, you can express that quintessential Mr.Children style.

Promise of SunflowersHata Motohiro

Motohiro Hata / Promise of a Sunflower (Short Ver.)
Promise of SunflowersHata Motohiro

This is Motohiro Hata’s 17th single, released in August 2014.

It became the theme song for the animated film “STAND BY ME Doraemon” and was a hit that also had many other tie-ins.

It’s a gentle ballad, and while some people who aren’t confident singers might feel hesitant when it’s recommended to them, the melody is very simple and beautiful, and once you actually try singing it, there aren’t many difficult parts.

So don’t be afraid—give it a try.

If high notes are tough for you, lowering the key by two or three steps should make it manageable for most male singers.

Just be careful with the transition between chest voice and falsetto around the end of the first verse (A-melody).

every dayYonezu Kenshi

Kenshi Yonezu – Mainichi (Every Day)
every dayYonezu Kenshi

Kenshi Yonezu, a singer-songwriter who enjoys overwhelming support from younger generations.

Many of his songs are rather challenging, so there probably aren’t many men who have a large repertoire of his tracks.

That’s why I recommend Mainichi.

It’s his new song, and among his recent releases, it’s by far the easiest to sing.

There’s a part in the latter half that uses a bit of falsetto, so if that’s difficult, it’s perfectly fine to lower the key and sing it in your chest voice.

White LoversKuwata Keisuke

Keisuke Kuwata – Shiroi Koibitotachi (Full ver.)
White LoversKuwata Keisuke

It’s Keisuke Kuwata’s 7th solo single, released in October 2001.

A transparent, heart-shaped vinyl version was also issued.

This applies not only to his solo songs but also when singing Southern All Stars songs: since Kuwata has a very distinctive vocal style, try to sing it without slipping into an impersonation of him.

I think it’s a great song with a simple melody that’s easy to sing and remember.

That said, if you’re performing it in front of a big group of friends, going all-in on an impersonation could be fun, too! There’s a falsetto at the end of the chorus, but the line isn’t very difficult, so it could be good for practicing your falsetto as well.

SolaninASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION

ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION’s signature song “Soranin.” It features a simple, singable melody that really captures the feel of Japanese rock.

There aren’t any particularly high parts, so it’s easy for men who aren’t good with high notes or falsetto to sing.

I think it would also sound cool if you deliberately sang it with a husky voice.

celeryYamazaki Masayoshi

This is a song Masayoshi Yamazaki provided to the national idol group SMAP.

While highlighting differences in the mindsets of men and women and the two people’s differing hobbies, the lyrics overflowing with affection for the other person and the richly atmospheric vocals offer a charm distinct from the SMAP version.

Be sure to listen to this one as well before trying it at karaoke.
