Hina doll display

Among older adults, some may associate major events in March with the Peach Festival (Hinamatsuri).
So this time, we’re introducing a Hina decoration craft that can be displayed both on facility walls and in residents’ rooms.
Start by making a fan-shaped base out of construction paper, then attach origami figures of the Emperor (Odairi-sama) and Empress (Ohina-sama) on top.
If you also make and add peach blossoms and pine needles, it will create a festive atmosphere.
It’s also lovely to decorate the wall with the Hina display alongside large pink, crimson, and white peach blossoms.
Through making these Hina decorations, some people may find themselves reminiscing about their own, their children’s, or their grandchildren’s Peach Festival celebrations.
Plum Blossoms and the Japanese Bush Warbler

The wall decorations of plum blossoms and bush warblers are absolutely lovely.
The gentle colors evoke the arrival of spring and will brighten up the room with a festive feel.
If you make them in a three-dimensional way, they’ll look even more realistic and be even more fun.
Since you’ll be using your hands, it’s a good bit of exercise and also helps build concentration.
It sounds fun to make them together with everyone’s cooperation, too.
Once you finish, you’re sure to feel a sense of accomplishment.
With these seasonal decorations, everyday life will feel even more enjoyable.
By all means, have fun making them together.
Dandelions and Horsetails
Dandelions and horsetails are often seen along riverbanks in spring.
Depending on the region, chances to see them have decreased, but spotting dandelions and horsetails still makes you think, “Spring is here.” Let’s create a wall decoration of dandelions and horsetails that helps older adults feel the season.
Use plenty of finger and hand movements to crumple origami into balls and to attach each petal one by one.
Adding details like dandelions that have gone to seed, butterflies, and ladybugs will enhance the atmosphere even more.
It would be wonderful if these wall decorations could convey the cheerful feel of spring and help lift the spirits of the seniors.
Accordion-fold Hina doll display
https://www.tiktok.com/@mii_no_seisak/video/7602914620805745941Here’s an idea for representing the bodies of Hina dolls using accordion-folded origami.
Use two sheets of origami paper per doll.
First, accordion-fold a plain sheet, overlap the sides, and fold it in half.
Fold the second sheet the same way, then insert it into the first sheet and glue them together.
It’s recommended to use patterned paper for the second sheet.
Once the body is complete, attach a face and decorations made from construction paper, and hang it from a display stand made with a thick straw and kite string to finish.
For an even more festive look, you can also make and hang bonbori lanterns and hishi-mochi rice cakes.
A simple Hina decoration you’ll want to display

Easy Hina Doll decoration you can make by downloading the template! Just paste the bonbori lanterns, hishi-mochi, and Hina dolls onto the background illustration to complete it.
First, mount the background illustration on thick paper and trim off the excess.
For the bonbori, cut several circular pieces from colored paper of your choice, fold each in half, then glue them together to form a hemisphere.
For the hishi-mochi, prepare pink, white, and green colored paper, cut them according to the template, and stack/glue them in layers.
For how to make the Hina dolls, check the video linked in the description and try folding along with it.
pansy
A dazzling wall decoration of pansies to brighten up your spring flower bed! Cut origami paper into petal shapes and heart shapes, and draw pansy patterns in the center area.
Gently add a curve to each piece using a thin stick, then layer and glue them onto a square backing made from cut cardboard.
If you prepare several different heights for the cardboard backings, the variation in levels will create a beautiful three-dimensional effect when displayed—highly recommended! Finally, decorate with leaf parts, and your spring-like wall display is complete.
