Music Festivals in May [2026]: Outdoor Festivals and Events Summary

The SaLaD Music Festival was launched in 2018 as a festival where everyone can experience and express the joy of music. Based on the concept behind its name—Sing and Listen and Dance: Sing! Listen! Dance!—it offers a fresh and diverse lineup of programs. In addition to its main venue at Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre (Toshima Ward), performances are also held at the Ueno Park Outdoor Stage and civic halls throughout the Tama area. “Meat Festival” is a food-culture fest for meat lovers, by meat lovers, where you can enjoy meat dishes along with live music, DJs, and dance. Set in Todoroki Ryokuchi Park in Kawasaki, Kanagawa, the event features around thirty meat-centric vendors from across Japan, plus a variety of programs such as artist performances and dance contests on a special stage. Craft beer and sweets are also available, and the welcoming atmosphere makes it easy for families and friends to drop by. It will be held during the Children’s Day holiday in May 2026.

Now in its 23rd year in 2026, this is one of the largest Okinawan culture festivals in the Tokyo metropolitan area. Centered around La Cittadella in Kawasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture, it showcases the many charms of Okinawa under the open sky—from gourmet food stalls and music festivals to free outdoor concerts and traditional performing arts like Eisa. The official theme is the “Okinawa Grand Cultural Festival,” and the music festival featuring artists such as Kazufumi Miyazawa and Masaru Shimabukuro (BEGIN) is a highlight.
