In addition to major festivals that draw popular artists from Japan and abroad, there are also plenty of smaller, handmade events that radiate a warm, personal touch.

The musical spectrum is just as diverse—rock, jazz, hip-hop, reggae, anime songs, and even club music.

Asagaya Jazz Street began in 1995 with the motto, “Brightening and enlivening Asagaya with jazz.” This event, where the town overflows with jazz, is run by local volunteers, and its handmade, community-driven nature is one of its key attractions.

Mezamashi LiveWed 10/22 – Thu 10/23, Tokyo Metropolis

Mezamashi Live is one of the projects held as part of Odaiba Minna no Yume Tairiku, a summer event hosted by Fuji TV and set in Odaiba. On a special stage that appears in Odaiba, one act performs live each day with a different lineup. Setouchi Django Street in SumidaSun, 10/19, Tokyo Metropolis

A jazz event originating from the Seto Inland Sea—rich in history and culture—will be held in Tokyo as a sister event.
