Haagen-Dazs “MOON ON THE SPOON”

In the Häagen-Dazs commercial “MOON ON THE SPOON,” Ayami Nakajo—who has appeared in previous ads—shows up in animated form.
Character design was handled by animator Hitomi Kariya, known for creating the opening animation for the NHK morning drama series Natsuzora.
When a spoon taps the still-firm Häagen-Dazs just taken out of the freezer, a beautiful moon shining in the night sky appears reflected on it.
As she gazes at the moon with her beloved cat, the Häagen-Dazs reaches the perfect softness! Upon tasting it, she’s so enchanted by the deliciousness that she breaks into a joyful dance.
The narration for the commercial is also performed by Ayami Nakajo.
“MOON ON THE SPOON” versionAyami Nakajo

This is a rare animated commercial for Häagen-Dazs, the “MOON ON THE SPOON” edition.
As she’s about to eat Häagen-Dazs ice cream, the character sees the moon reflected on her spoon, then looks up to see the real moon in the sky.
The voice of the main girl is Ayami Nakajo, who also appears in other commercials in the series.
The animation pays meticulous attention to detail—from the night scenery that feels like it’s overseas to the cat by her side.
Interestingly, only the Häagen-Dazs ice cream itself is inserted as live-action footage.
Crispy Sandwich: ‘My Special Sweets EARTH’ EditionAyami Nakajo

A crispy wafer sandwich with Häagen-Dazs ice cream—the Crispy Sandwich.
In the commercial titled “My Special Sweets EARTH,” Ayami Nakajo, who has appeared in numerous Häagen-Dazs ads, makes an appearance! The way she gently floats up after taking a bite of the Crispy Sandwich expresses that its deliciousness is so great it’s heavenward.
Floating in a soft, cream-colored dress, she looks just like an angel! While the flavor of the Crispy Sandwich is certainly intriguing, we can’t help but be drawn to Ayami Nakajo’s stunning presence as well.
GU “Invincible Knit”

What Ayami Nakajo brought to the dry cleaner was GU’s “Muteki Knit”! Kazuya Kojima plays the shop owner who questions the name “Muteki Knit,” but no one will tell him what it means.
The clever touch is that the background music is the Backstreet Boys’ “I Want It That Way,” underscoring his comedic protest of “Why won’t you tell me?!”
Cookies & Cream: “In the White Forest” editionAyami Nakajo

This is the Häagen-Dazs Cookies & Cream commercial titled “In the White Forest,” featuring Ayami Nakajō.
In a world covered entirely in pure white snow, Nakajō, drawing a picture of an owl, suddenly asks, “I wonder what happiness is?” Two adorable twin-like boys perched in a tree answer her, making for a heartwarming scene.
But in the end, it turns out the boys were actually the model for the drawing—the owls? It’s also a striking commercial because Nakajō stands out in a sleeveless bright red dress against the snowy landscape.
