Cutie HoneyKōda Kumi

This track is included on Kumi Koda’s 11th maxi single, LOVE & HONEY, released in May 2004.

It’s a cover of the theme song from the TV anime Cutie Honey, which aired in the 1970s and became a huge hit, and it also serves as the theme song for the live-action film adaptation in which Koda herself makes a cameo appearance.

After just one listen, you’ll likely notice that the song doesn’t require a wide vocal range to sing at karaoke.

Don’t overthink it—just get into the rhythm, sing out, and enjoy yourself!

Meg Ousaka, the TikToker who gained nationwide popularity with “I’m mad at pre-sliced butter!”, is now active as a singer-songwriter and has a passionate following among some listeners.

Among her songs, the one I especially recommend is “72-Point Etcetera.” Because it’s arranged with a slightly fast tempo and a bright tone, it’s easy to overlook, but the vocal range required is actually quite narrow, so people of virtually any voice type can sing it without trouble.

The vocal lines also have few phrases that demand vibrato or long sustained notes, making it unquestionably a beginner-friendly track.

You don’t listen to rock.aimyon

This is Aimyon’s third major single, released in August 2017.

It’s a fine, medium-tempo track that really lets you savor the charm of Aimyon’s slightly husky vocals.

The acoustic guitar strumming that you can hear throughout the backing track is also very pleasant.

The vocal melody doesn’t span a particularly wide range, making it an ideal choice for karaoke if you’re not confident about your vocal range.

Just before the final chorus—in other words, at the end of the D-melody section—there’s a slightly higher note.

If your voice sounds weak there, it can spoil the song, so I recommend adjusting the key so you can sing that part powerfully.

Singing with a slight laid-back feel will help you better capture the vibe of the original, so be sure to give that a try!

Fujii Kaze’s “Masshiro.” Unlike most of his work, this track has little of his usual R&B flavor and instead comes together with a dream-pop feel throughout.

Notably, the vocal range is very narrow—yet not merely narrow; the melody maintains a gentle, relaxed vocal line from start to finish, making it exceptionally easy to sing.

For some lower-voiced women, the range is tight enough that you can sing it without changing the key, so consider adding it to your repertoire.

If there’s a part that might trip up people who aren’t confident singers, it would probably be the A and B sections, which make frequent use of a relatively low range.

The range used in the chorus isn’t that high.

In the lower notes, if you end up using so-called “throat voice,” it becomes harder to maintain pitch, so try singing with the image of supporting your voice with your abdominal muscles as much as possible.

As a piece of music, it’s very pop and easy to remember.

Swampiri

iri – Swamp (Music Video)
Swampiri

iri, one of Japan’s leading female R&B singers.

While she has mainly focused on classic R&B such as slow jams, she’s now revealed a new side of herself.

That’s her track “Swamp.” Rather than straight R&B, this work leans closer to alternative R&B, and compared to her other songs, it features far fewer instances of advanced R&B techniques like vocal riffs and runs.

Plus, the vocal range is narrow, making it a great recommendation for those looking for something stylish with a limited range.

FairyDAZBEE

DAZBEE | “Fairy” M/V
FairyDAZBEE

DAZBEE is a female singer with a truly one-of-a-kind voice.

Her clear, voice-actor-like tone and languid vocals leave a powerful impression, even over gentle melodies.

Her new track, Fairy, is a prime example.

Based on Celtic music, the song is sung entirely in a high register.

People often mistake singing high for having a wide vocal range, but that’s not the case here.

The piece simply centers on high notes, with virtually no mid-to-low range.

There’s no intense belting either, so if you want to sing lightly with a whispery voice, be sure to check it out.
