Fun in autumn! Roasted sweet potato origami

After folding the origami into a square and creasing it, open it up and place the paper so the crease runs horizontally.

Fold the top and bottom edges to the crease, then fold all four corners inward to complete the roasted sweet potato.

This alone gives plenty of autumn vibes, but let’s add one more touch.

Tear the roasted sweet potato you made in half, and insert a yellow “roasted sweet potato” made the same way inside.

Now you’ve made a half-eaten roasted sweet potato.

It also works as a wall decoration and seems like an idea that could contribute to children’s food education.

Autumn animals made with paper cups

This is a craft project where you make animals by sticking torn origami paper onto a paper cup.

Apply glue to the side of the paper cup, then attach torn pieces of origami or tissue paper.

Using origami gives a crisp look, while tissue paper creates a soft, fluffy texture.

Finally, attach parts made from construction paper—such as ears, tail, eyes, and mouth—to the cup to finish.

Displaying them with autumn motifs like colorful leaves or acorns will make the craft feel even more autumnal.

Mushroom House

Someone is coming out of the window! Here’s an idea for a mushroom house.

What you’ll need: polka-dot origami paper, pale orange or light brown origami paper, half-size cut origami sheets, your favorite animals or people made from origami, and glue.

Use the polka-dot paper to make the mushroom roof, and finish it off in the shape of a cute house with the pale orange or light brown paper.

If you decorate it with small animals or figures, it will open up a storybook-like world.

Cutting and pasting origami will be a great opportunity to nurture creativity!

Torn-paper collage sweet potato

This torn-paper roasted sweet potato craft is perfect for late autumn.

Use red, purple, and brown construction paper or origami paper, tear it by hand, and paste the pieces onto a sweet potato–shaped base.

Try gently crumpling the paper first to soften it—this makes it easier for children to tear.

If you want to add more dimension, shape a sweet potato out of newspaper and then cover it with colored paper.

This creative project draws out children’s expressive abilities and can be a great way to make autumn festivities even more enjoyable.

Bagworm made with torn-paper collage

Why not try a fall-themed project—bagworms—using torn-paper collage that kids love? You’ll need brown origami paper, a toilet paper roll, glue, and so on.

Teachers should prepare the bagworm eyes in advance.

Provide several shades of brown origami paper and let the children tear them freely.

Have them glue the torn pieces on until the toilet paper roll is completely covered.

Attach the eyes at the end, and it’s done.

Kids can enjoy the tactile feel of tearing paper, and it also helps with fine motor skill development.
