Let’s play by predicting the ogre’s moves! Here’s a fun idea for a hula hoop tag game.
Prepare nine small hula hoops and an easy-to-see marker for the person who’s “it.” On the count of “1, 2, 3,” jump to move into an adjacent hula hoop! You can move the length of one hoop vertically, horizontally, or diagonally.
“It” also moves on the cue, so the key is to avoid landing in the same hoop as “it.” Predict the ogre’s movements and try to escape to the end!
Red Light, Green Light: the daruma who delivers the ball
Hula hoops are safe bases! Let me share an idea for a “Red Light, Green Light” style game where you deliver a ball.
You’ll need more hula hoops than the number of children playing, plus a ball.
You have to move forward to carry the ball, but if you step outside a hula hoop, you get caught! It’s a unique game that lets kids enjoy that thrilling tension.
Even if you’re thinking about which hula hoop to move to, you might end up choosing the same one as a friend.
It seems great for developing quick decision-making skills, too.
Give it a try!

Let’s work together with friends to help the aliens! Here’s an idea for an Alien Return game.
You’ll need balloons, markers, and something to mark the start and finish lines.
In this simple game, you carry balloon “aliens” to the goal—but cooperating with friends is absolutely required.
That’s because you play in teams of four, holding hands, and the rule is that you can’t let go! Coordinate your moves using your linked hands, heads, shoulders, or hips, and call out to sync your timing.
Work together and save the aliens!
Stacking Game
A simple but exciting game: the Stacking Game.
The difficulty changes depending on what you stack, so try all kinds of things like building blocks, empty cans, and empty boxes! Stacking cans requires a lot of concentration, and if you use boxes, it could be even more fun to try different sizes.
Build something taller than yourself and amaze everyone! Surprisingly, small items like building blocks are hard because balance is key, so be sure to give those a try too!
Musical Chairs

A classic recreational game that everyone knows: musical chairs.
It’s a game people of all ages can enjoy together.
While the music plays, everyone walks around the chairs; when the music stops, you sit down.
Anyone who can’t find a seat is out, and the last person remaining wins.
If small children are playing, it might be good to start by preparing a chair for everyone so they can get used to sitting when the music stops, and then try playing with fewer chairs than players.
Ball Scissor Relay

This is a relay game where you hold a ball between your feet.
As long as you have enough space to move around, you can play it indoors, so it’s fun regardless of the weather.
If you make the relay course not just a straight line but add curves, turnarounds, or a loop, the difficulty goes up and it will get even more exciting, don’t you think?
Flag-raising game

It’s an old classic that both kids and adults can’t help getting fired up about: the flag-raising game.
You probably know the familiar phrase, “Raise red, raise white,” and have played it at least once, right? At first you think, “This is easy!” but partway through your brain gets tangled, you can’t tell which is which, and you end up in a panic (lol).
You can easily make the flags with colored paper and chopsticks, too.
You don’t have to stick to red and white—other colors work just as well, and using flags with characters drawn on them will make it even more exciting.
