Scenes from Childhood, Op. 15, No. 7: DreamingRobert Schumann

Composed by Schumann.

It is the seventh piece in the set Scenes from Childhood, which consists of 13 pieces and is one of the most famous.

This piece is extremely beautiful and has been arranged not only for piano but also for various other instruments.

Although it is titled Scenes from Childhood, it might actually be better suited for adults to play.

It’s a single released in 1973.

On July 28, 1973, it reached No.

This is the piece included at the end of ‘First Grade Gillock.’ If you play it with a relaxed blues rhythm, it brings out the atmosphere even more, making it a lovely piece both to play and to listen to.

The sheet music itself is simple, and with a little practice you can master it quickly, but I think it’s also a piece that intermediate and advanced players will find satisfying to play.

Sad WaltzWilliam Gillock

GILLOCK Valse Triste — Gillock, Sad Waltz

It’s a composition by Gillock.

Playing it as written in the score isn’t particularly difficult.

And yet, why does it move us so deeply? It’s a piece that even adults can fully enjoy.

In fact, it’s one I’d prefer to play as an adult.

Minuet in F major, K. 2Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

[Grade A1 Classic] W. A. Mozart: Minuet in F major, K. 2 (2025 PTNA Competition Required Piece) pf. Nozomu Sugawara
Minuet in F major, K. 2Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

Among Beethoven’s works, the piece “Minuet in F major, K2” stands out for its exceptional charm.

Favored by the nobility, it is characterized by an elegant triple meter.

It is also known as a piece that even young children and elementary school students can perform.

A key feature is the abundance of similar phrases.

Specifically, there are sections A and A’, and at the end an A” appears that mixes elements of those two parts.

Because the performer must differentiate each section, this piece is ideal for developing expressive ability.

The Skaters’ WaltzÉmile Waldteufel

It’s a composition by France’s Émile Waldteufel.

It’s a waltz in 3/4 time and is fun to play.

It begins with skaters gliding onto the ice at a relaxed pace and starting to slide gently.

Before long, they spin gracefully on the ice… The music evokes a scene just like that.

When asked what the most iconic Disney Princess song is, many people would probably say this one.

It’s also great that beginners can manage to play it with some effort.

The scene where Belle and the Beast dance to this song in the grand ballroom is one of the most memorable moments in the film.
