drum

I think the tone will vary slightly depending on who makes it.

Let’s create all kinds of tones.

What you’ll need: a plastic bottle, a utility knife, a balloon, colored tape, chopsticks, aluminum foil, and tape.

First, make the drum part.

Cut off the bottom of the plastic bottle with the utility knife.

Wrap colored tape around the cut edge.

Cut the balloon in half.

You won’t use the side with the mouthpiece.

Stretch the cut edge of the balloon over the cut opening of the bottle and attach it.

Stretch it nice and tight.

After that, decorate it however you like and the drum is done.

For the drumsticks, wrap aluminum foil around split chopsticks and secure it so it won’t come off.

Be careful of your surroundings when swinging the drumsticks.

air cannon

Easy craft with balloons: a plastic bottle air cannon
air cannon

This is an air cannon that will put a smile on any child’s face.

You’ll need a plastic bottle, scissors, a utility knife, tape, a balloon, and a toilet paper tube.

To make it, first cut off the bottom of the plastic bottle.

Wrap tape around the cut edge.

Twist the balloon’s mouthpiece and seal it completely.

Cut off about 30% from the top (round end) of the balloon—discard that cut-off piece.

Stretch the cut edge of the balloon over the cut opening of the bottle and secure it with tape.

Be sure to use plenty of tape on this part.

Cut slits into one end of the toilet paper tube to make octopus-like tabs and attach it to the air cannon.

It works by pulling back the balloon section and releasing it to blast out air.

It’s also fun to make targets to aim at with your air cannon.

rattle

rattle

You can quickly make a homemade rattle.

What you need: a plastic bottle, tape, beads, felt, and washi tape.

You can substitute colored paper for the felt.

Cut the felt into stars, flowers, or any shapes you like.

Put them into the plastic bottle along with the beads.

To prevent accidental swallowing, secure the cap with tape.

Then just decorate freely with washi tape or stickers.

Adding a small bell should make an even livelier sound.

castanet

A fun and easy-to-make instrument! “Castanets from a plastic bottle”
castanet

Kids love things that make sounds.

How about a handmade castanet? You’ll need two plastic bottles, an awl for making holes, a hair tie, and masking tape.

First, cut off the bottom parts of the two plastic bottles.

These will be the main body of the castanet.

For safety, cover the cut edges with masking tape.

Then keep applying masking tape until the bottle parts are no longer visible.

Use the awl to make two holes, thread the hair tie through, and tie it—done! It produces a unique sound that’s different from wooden castanets.

Beaded accessories

[Parent-Child DIY] Perfect for summer vacation crafts! Make accessories with plastic bottles! Super eco-friendly handmade plastic-bottle beads
Beaded accessories

We’re going to make beads using plastic bottles.

Prepare a plastic bottle, permanent markers, aluminum foil, a toaster oven, a utility knife, and string for threading the beads.

First, cut the plastic bottle open and flatten it into a sheet, then draw lots of your favorite pictures and patterns on it.

Cut it into small pieces—keeping them a consistent size can help.

Place the cut pieces on crumpled aluminum foil and put them in the toaster oven.

Turn on the toaster oven and heat them until they form bead shapes.

Adjust the heating time while watching the plastic pieces.

Once the beads have cooled, thread them onto the string, and you’re done.

Since you’ll be using a toaster oven, be sure an adult is present to supervise.

Plastic Bottle Bowling

On hot days, indoor play is the way to go☆ Plastic Bottle Bowling
Plastic Bottle Bowling

If you make bowling pins out of lightweight plastic bottles, you can play with your children.

You’ll need 10 plastic bottles, double-sided tape, colored paper, and water.

To make them, put a little water in each bottle so they stand more easily.

Attach the colored paper with double-sided tape.

Decorating them is a fun activity, too.

Any kind of ball should work as the bowling ball.

Once you’ve made them, try playing right away!

pom-pom

Easy to hold with a plastic bottle♪ Let’s make pom-poms
pom-pom

All you need are a plastic bottle and vinyl tape! First, gather several strips of vinyl tape and bundle them together on one end to make the base of a pom-pom.

Thread that through the mouth of a plastic bottle that’s been cut in half, and then finely shred the tape to finish.

Decorate with masking tape or colored paper to make it cute.

However, the cut edge of the bottle can be sharp and dangerous, so be sure to heat it with an iron to round it off or otherwise treat it.
