drum

A drum made using a plastic bottle and a balloon.
It’s very easy to make, sounds good, and is a toy that even small children can enjoy.
Cut off the bottom of the plastic bottle and wrap vinyl tape around the cut edge.
Then stretch a balloon with the mouth part removed over the top and secure it with vinyl tape.
The trick to getting a good sound is to stretch the balloon tightly so it doesn’t sag before taping it down.
Make drumsticks from chopsticks and aluminum foil and start playing.
Jamming with other instruments sounds fun, too!
Storage bottle with zipper

We’re going to make a zipper-equipped plastic bottle container.
The finished product can be used as a pencil case or a small storage case.
First, looking from the bottle’s mouth, cut the plastic bottle into two parts at about the 3:7 point.
Then attach the two pieces together with a zipper.
And that’s it—just that simple! You can find zippers in the craft section at 100-yen shops.
Be careful when using a utility knife to cut the bottle.
hovercraft

It’s a simple trick, but it makes people go “Wow!” when they see it! Use the bottom and the mouth parts of a plastic bottle.
Make evenly spaced holes in the bottom part with an awl—about ten should be fine.
Cut out the middle section of the bottle so you end up with a very short plastic bottle.
The finished shape should look like an Apollo chocolate.
Be sure to seal it firmly with tape so no air leaks.
Attach an inflated balloon to the mouth, then let go, and the plastic bottle will float and move.
This idea could be adapted for other crafts, too.
Try using it in various ways!
Apple trinket box

Let’s make a small apple-shaped container using the shape of a plastic bottle’s bottom.
Prepare two 1.5L or 2L plastic bottles.
Cut the first one 8 cm up from the bottom, and the second one 4 cm up from the bottom.
The second piece will be the lid, so try fitting it over the first piece.
Cut out a leaf from the remaining bottle plastic and attach it to a stem made from construction paper.
Finally, glue this onto the lid piece to finish! Using colored plastic bottles makes it cuter, so that’s recommended.
Puppet Airplane

Here’s an idea for making an airplane using empty PET bottles and a lactic acid drink container.
Prepare two PET bottles, cut off the ends, and join the two bottles together.
Use thick paper to make the wings and tail, and attach them to the PET bottles with double-sided tape.
If you attach the lactic acid drink bottle under the wings, it really adds to the airplane-like look.
Wrap white vinyl tape around the PET bottles, then use blue and red tape to add windows and lines, and you’re done.
