RADWIMPS' classic and popular songs
Let me introduce some songs by RADWIMPS, a rock band that represents the “Rockin’ On” scene.
Their lyrics are literary with a unique worldview, and their straightforward, catchy tunes—classic J-rock without quirks—are incredibly appealing.
The guitarist-vocalist Yojiro Noda grew up abroad, while the other members studied at music vocational schools or conservatories, making their English-language lyrics and high level of musicianship part of their charm as well.
If you were born in the early ’90s, chances are many of the songs you listened to in high school are included in this playlist.
Give it a listen and let it take you back to your youth.

RADWIMPS’ classic and popular songs (111–120)
Itomori High SchoolRADWIMPS

This is a scene of Mitsuha going about her ordinary days at Itomori High School.
The lightly bouncing piano sound really reflects her personality, doesn’t it? You can feel the simple, joyful school life.
It’s the root of her happiness.
It seems like the kind of song that would commonly play in a scene like this, but it’s a little different—that’s the charm of RADWIMPS.

The Invisible TwoRADWIMPS

Contrary to their feelings for each other, at such a crucial moment they can’t see one another.
Taki calls out Mitsuha’s name near the sacred rock.
Mitsuha calls Taki’s name too, but although they can hear each other’s voices, they can’t see each other.
It’s a scene that leaves viewers frustrated and heartbroken at the fact that the two who once spent such joyful days together can’t even touch, and makes us anxious about what will happen next.
The ethereal tones of the music were especially memorable.
The waterfall that evokes memoriesRADWIMPS

Taki can no longer swap places with Mitsuha, and his memories gradually begin to fade.
This is the scene where he tries to go see Mitsuha, tracing the memories of Itomori that aren’t written in the notebook.
As he desperately tries to remember and sketch the townscape, Taki’s anxiety intersects with his desire to believe in something, and yet he can’t help needing to be sure—those emotions come through in the music.
Hida ExplorationRADWIMPS

This plays during the scene where he heads to Hida, relying on a drawing he made from memory, to search for Mitsuha.
He came here to check something, but there are also some lighthearted, slightly goofy moments that make you chuckle and reveal Taki’s personality.
You can even feel how delicious the Takayama ramen is (lol).
It’s a fun piano piece that lets you catch your breath for a bit.
Is that okay?RADWIMPS

One song that has earned strong support from many RADWIMPS fans is “Iindesuka?” That’s because this track holds special memories: a self-cover was released a decade later, and its music video was filmed with gathered fans.
The lyrics are also a major reason for its popularity.
Repeating the phrase in the title, the song conveys the wonder of being alive.
With its relaxed yet lively vibe, it should be easy to sing even for those who aren’t into ballads or intense tracks.
Grand Escape feat. Toko MiuraRADWIMPS

RADWIMPS is a rock band that captivates fans with film scores that closely align with each work and band songs with a one-of-a-kind identity.
Released in July 2019, this piece was created as the theme song for director Makoto Shinkai’s animated film Weathering with You.
Its lyrics, depicting dreams, a longing for freedom, and human relationships amid changing times and environments, will likely prompt many listeners to reflect on their own lives and feelings.
The grand melody that heightens the film’s climax, combined with Toko Miura’s clear, transparent vocals, makes for a profoundly moving number that stirs the heart.
Nandemonaiya (movie edit.)RADWIMPS

With this song that plays during the final scene and the ending, everyone held the same strong wish, didn’t they? “Please! Let us meet!” By chance they meet on a train, get off at the station, and search for each other.
And when the chorus kicks in, that scene made our hearts pound to the max.
It was the moment we were intoxicated by the beautiful voice of vocalist Yojiro Noda in the a cappella at the beginning of the track.
