In a disaster, in what ways can a raincoat be useful beyond its role as rain gear?81rank/position
- Privacy screens in shelters
- To wrap a package
- cold-weather gear
See the answer
cold-weather gear
As a useful tip for disasters, a raincoat is a great item to include in your evacuation kit. Not only can it be used as rain gear when it’s raining, but it also works very well as protection against the cold!
Pudding Game82rank/position

How about trying the “Pudding Game,” which kids from lower to upper grades can enjoy? It’s nice and simple—you only need an eraser.
First, pair up in twos.
Push your desks together and place the eraser in the middle.
Next, when someone says “yakisoba,” say “ya” and raise your right hand.
For “karaage,” say “ka” and raise your left hand, and for “onigiri,” say “o” and raise both hands.
And when “pudding” is called, grab the eraser! Whoever grabs it wins.
It’s a fun game that tests quick judgment and reflexes!
Rolled-up pill bug83rank/position

If you look around a park, you can usually find at least one pill bug, and for many children it’s one of the most familiar insects.
Here’s an idea for making a pill bug out of origami.
What’s more, this pill bug jumps with a pop when you press and release it, and it curls up into a ball! Kids who love pill bugs will of course enjoy it, and even those who are a bit squeamish might be happy to play with an origami pill bug.
It’s not too difficult to make.
The key to making it look neat is to crease firmly.
Since you’ll be making quite a lot of fine creases, take your time and do each one carefully.
kotoro-kotoro (onomatopoeic; a light rattling/rolling sound)84rank/position

Let me introduce a game called “Kotorokotoro.” Four players line up in a single file and stand facing the tagger.
Each of the four places their hands on the shoulders of the person in front, and the leader clasps their hands in front of their chest.
Set a time limit: if the tagger manages to touch the last person in line within that time, the tagger wins.
It’s a team-based tag game where the line moves cleverly to protect the person at the back.
Players are free to move, but if anyone’s hands come off the shoulders in front of them, they’re out.
That means moving or dodging too vigorously could get you out, so you need to balance your movements.
You can play it both outdoors and indoors.
sniper chopstick gun85rank/position

This is a rubber band chopstick gun designed for accurate targeting—perfect for anyone who wants to make a precision “sniper” version.
The materials are disposable chopsticks, rubber bands, glue, and a paper clip.
Cut the chopsticks into the required lengths for each part, glue them together to form the gun’s frame, and then thread the clip through the chopsticks to serve as the trigger, securing it with a rubber band.
Since rubber bands are only used for the clip section, it’s also ideal for those who struggle to wrap rubber bands securely on standard chopstick guns, which can make them wobbly.
soft serve ice cream86rank/position

Let’s try making a cute little soft-serve ice cream perched on a cone with origami.
Use the triangular creases as guides to form the base edges, then glue the ends together to shape the cone into a diamond-like form.
Next, twist the portion that sticks out to shape the soft-serve, and the whole piece is complete.
Aim for a sturdy look for the cone by paying attention to the layers of paper, and a soft look for the cream by twisting it gently.
While soft-serve typically brings to mind a yellow or ocher cone with white cream, it’s also fun to change the colors to enjoy different impressions, or to line up a variety of colorful soft-serves as decorations.
morning glory87rank/position

Let’s make a summer flower—morning glory—out of origami.
The folding method is simple, and you can make it with just one sheet of origami paper! Rather than a lot of complex folds, the process mainly involves creating crease lines, so be sure to press in those creases firmly as you go.
Gently opening along the final crease feels exciting, almost like a real morning glory blooming! If the back lifts up after you’ve finished, secure it with clear tape or glue.
Adding leaves or a vine makes it wonderfully summery and charming.
Why are there sneakers whose laces never come undone no matter how much you run around?88rank/position
@igosso.youtube♪ Original Song – Igossou [YouTube] – Igossou [YouTube]
Sneaker laces sometimes come undone while you’re wearing them, right? You can just retie them when they come loose, but if your hands are full, you end up walking with untied laces—your shoes feel like they’re about to slip off, and you might even trip over the laces.
A lot of people probably have those quietly annoying memories.
Here’s a quiz about lace-up sneakers! Sneakers whose laces never come undone no matter how much you run around… sounds like a dream product, doesn’t it? But in fact, kids are already wearing this dream-like item.
You might figure out the answer just by looking at your own sneakers!
Hula hoop relay89rank/position
@houkagoday_yawara Hula Hoop Relay 🎄 Let’s all work together to pass the hula hoop through everyone within the time limit by using our bodies skillfully! Needed: a hula hoop Objective: Movements like passing, ducking through, and carrying the hula hoop use spatial awareness, balance, and agility at the same time, boosting body control. Tip: Decide in advance whether it will go from the head or from the feet to make it go smoothly! Give it a try 💫#Indoor Play# developmental support (ryōiku)#AtHomePlayAfter-school day serviceNagasaki
♬ Comical lively cute sports day – SOUND BANK
For this hula hoop relay, prepare one hula hoop and, while everyone holds hands, pass the hoop along in order from one end to the other.
The team that gets the hoop to the last person the fastest wins.
Because everyone needs to work together, it’s great for building teamwork.
You can play with teams of the same size, or try timing your runs.
It’s exciting and nerve-racking to see when the hoop doesn’t pass smoothly, or when it goes perfectly thanks to everyone’s cooperation.
Give it a try!
What’s inside the box?90rank/position

“What’s in the Box?” is a perfect idea for indoor recreation at children’s clubs.
The rule is simple—guess the item using only your hands—yet the unexpected textures spark screams and bursts of laughter.
To arrive at the correct answer, kids need observation and reasoning skills, and their flashes of insight are tested as they take cues from others’ reactions.
It also fosters communication as children cooperate and give each other hints, strengthening bonds with their peers.
Since it isn’t affected by the weather, it’s ideal for rainy days.
You can adjust the difficulty depending on what you prepare, making it enjoyable for a wide range of ages.
