Speaking of Japanese reggae, you can’t leave out Shonan no Kaze—they’re practically indispensable.
It’s no exaggeration to say they helped popularize reggae among younger audiences who weren’t deeply familiar with the genre.
They’re regulars at summer festivals, and many of their songs are huge crowd-pleasers, but the track that really catapulted them to fame is likely “Junrenka.” Released in 2006 as their fifth single, it became a long-running hit and stands as one of their signature songs.

The song is one of his signature tracks and portrays a bittersweet love story.
In the early verses, it narrates how he met his girlfriend and how they came to live together, and from the middle onward, it candidly traces the relationship’s gradual end.
