Japanese Reggae Popularity Ranking [2026] (31–40)
The Mole’s SongEXPRESS36rank/position

EXPRESS, who used to perform as part of a group called 55LEVEL, began his solo career after the group disbanded.
He’s an Osaka-born artist who started working in the reggae scene around 2000.
The song that rapidly boosted the visibility of his solo work is Mogura no Uta (“Song of the Mole”).
Released in 2011, the year he launched his solo career, the track became a big hit.
Its lyrics—encouraging listeners to keep facing challenges without giving up because life only happens once—are truly wonderful, and many people have likely drawn strength from this song.
Quite a few professional baseball players also choose it as their walk-up music, making it a compelling anthem for support and motivation.
Slow & EasyHirai Dai37rank/position

Hirai Dai’s “Slow & Easy” features ocean-evoking lyrics and sound, and a soothing voice.
It’s a love song filled with affection, as if gently speaking to a lover.
You can feel the kindness of a man trying to put his partner at ease.
It’s a song that makes you see a bright future for the two of them.
Golden SoulShonan no Kaze38rank/position

This is a four-man reggae group from Japan.
They have captivated many young people by releasing unique, uplifting message songs that inspire courage and hope.
This track, the theme song for the TV Asahi drama “Negotiator,” is a powerful number that delivers a bold message: instead of living with excuses, live desperately with a strong resolve.
To my belovedET-KING39rank/position

It’s the ending theme of the pioneering variety show “Debuya” and one of ET-KING’s signature songs.
It’s a song filled with feelings for a loved one, with lyrics in Kansai dialect that make it feel familiar and approachable.
It’s a love song that straightforwardly conveys the desire to stay together forever.
Zutto (feat. HAN-KUN & TEE)SPICY CHOCOLATE40rank/position

A gem of a love song produced by SPICY CHOCOLATE, bringing to life a luxurious collaboration with HAN-KUN from Shonan no Kaze and singer TEE.
The frustration of time spent apart and the pure affection for a lover that grows precisely because of the distance are portrayed straightforwardly over a warm reggae sound.
After being included on the 2012 album “Shibuya RAGGA SWEET COLLECTION 2,” the track was featured in an NTT Docomo commercial and became a major talking point.
Anyone who has experienced a long-distance relationship will instantly recognize the bittersweet feelings of longing for the other person.
It might even make you want to reaffirm your unchanging feelings to someone special.

The Last One feat. J-REXXXJAPANĪZUMAGENĪZU41rank/position

For those looking for a heartwarming track, “Saigo no Ippon feat.
J-REXXX” is also recommended.
This piece is a collaboration between the hip-hop unit Japanese Maganese and reggae artist J-REXXX.
Its content conveys a message of world peace and a society where everyone can live happily.
While it includes a few edgy words, they actually lend credibility and reassurance to the message.
Listening to this song might even give you a sense of what the three artists are like as people.
Light It Up feat. RUDEBWOY FACE & ¥ellow BucksBANTY FOOT42rank/position

When people think of reggae, I imagine most picture Osaka.
It’s true that Osaka is often called the holy land of reggae in Japan, with many outstanding deejays and singers.
But that doesn’t mean great artists are concentrated only in Osaka.
BANTY FOOT, who perform “Light It Up feat.
RUDEBWOY FACE & ¥ellow Bucks,” are a reggae group representing the Tokai region and have released numerous classics.
Among them, this track became a nationwide hit, partly because it features ¥ellow Bucks, who is hugely popular in today’s hip-hop scene.
It’s a masterpiece where the strengths of reggae and hip-hop are expressed fully without getting in each other’s way.
