It was included on the album “Ore no Kyukyoku,” released in 2014.

It’s a powerful cheer song urging you to believe in yourself and take a new step forward.

The track is by Kotobuki-kun, a reggae musician active mainly in the Kansai area.

Incidentally, the one who said in an interview that she got hooked on it after a friend recommended it is women’s fencing athlete Chika Aoki.

Japanese reggae often carries strong messages and features songs that inspire listeners, so it’s popular among athletes and is frequently used before matches or as entrance theme songs.

This song, used in an NTT Docomo commercial, is one of SPICY CHOCOLATE’s signature tracks.

It drew attention because the chorus closely resembles Original Love’s “Kiss -KISS-.” The song portrays a man’s straightforward feelings for a single woman—a love song imbued with a heartbreaking depth of affection.

This is a hit track featuring guest appearances by BENI, the songstress from Okinawa; Shuta Sueyoshi from AAA, known for his sweet looks; and HAN-KUN, the ace of the Japanese reggae scene with overwhelming vocal power.

Compared to other reggae songs, it’s an achingly bittersweet love song that’s second to none, and it became a track that resonated even with people who hadn’t listened to reggae before, helping broaden the genre’s fan base.

The sound that represents Japan: RED SPIDER! JUNIOR is famous as a great soundman in Japan’s reggae scene, known for his outstanding sense and vibes—even if he does drop a lot of dirty jokes (lol).

One of the classic tracks he produced is “Yomogi Among the Hemp feat.

MINMI, DOUJI-T (Miki Dōzan), APOLLO, KIRA, KENTY GROSS, BES & NATURAL WEAPON.” It’s an all-star, luxurious lineup—from major-scene heavy hitters like MINMI and Dōji-T to singers like KIRA and BES, plus the Kaeru Studio crew.

The vibes are absolutely through the roof, so if you want to crank your energy all the way up, this is a must-check!

By my side…BIG BEAR61rank/position

In Osaka, the hottest zone of the Japanese reggae scene, the highly skilled singjay BIG BEAR commands overwhelming support.

He’s a so-called ragamuffin artist with a strong thug image, but in private he’s known for being very gentle and well-liked.

His famous love song is “Soba ni…” (“By Your Side”).

He may look tough, but his voice is very high and soft, so if you’re into swoon-worthy reggae love songs, definitely give him a listen.

Still In Lovedōraku62rank/position

Reggae singer Douraku, who gained popularity in the late 2000s.

One of the nice things about the reggae scene is that you can achieve a certain level of recognition even in the underground.

Before his major-label debut, Douraku was exceptionally popular even among that crowd.

His classic track “Still In Love,” released in 2009, depicts the raw emotions of a man who has lost the one he loves.

Unlike explanatory lyrics, these are crafted with nuance that leaves room for the listener to think, so be sure to pay attention to the lyrics as you listen.

Encounter… feat. RED RICE (Shonan no Kaze), BIG RONKyūshūdan63rank/position

Singer-songwriter from Nagasaki, Kusuo.

Technically, he’s considered a reggae artist, but his reggae arrangements lean heavily toward pop, making him enjoyable even for people who only listen to pop.

One of his famous love songs is “Deai..

feat.

RED RICE (Shonan no Kaze), BIG RON.” It features unadorned, real lyrics and a cheerful melody.

BIG RON’s part is insanely cool—definitely worth checking out!
