SHANK Popular Songs Ranking [2026]

A three-piece rock band formed in Nagasaki in 2004.

The origin of the band’s name comes from when they initially played ska-punk and called themselves “SKANK” (SKA + PUNK), but drummer Yuki Ikemoto misread it as “SHANK,” and the name stuck.

Here’s a ranking of some of their most emotional and popular songs!

Bright SideSHANK21rank/position

This track by SHANK, a band based in Nagasaki, released in August 2020, was born from a small everyday event—moving into a poorly lit room.

It distills the longing to return from a space shut in darkness to a place touched by light into high-velocity melodic punk.

The song was included on the Candy Cruise EP released in September of the same year, and was re-released on the 2022 album STEADY.

It shines with Shohei Ihara’s lyricism, which elevates minor frustrations into universal themes, and with an expansive guitar sound anchored by tight drumming.

They’re pounding out power chords and clashing images against each other.

Maybe the tempo is fast, because it feels like it ends quickly.

You could say that very sense of speed is the best thing about this track.

Come TogetherSHANK23rank/position

Featured on the 2013 album “Baitfish Attitude,” this track is a melodic punk number that distills SHANK’s signature speed and pop sensibility.

It carries a powerful message: even when difficulties pour down like rain, join hands with your friends and move forward without fear.

While acknowledging anxiety and hesitation—and even embracing them as something “fun”—the song inspires the courage to step into new days, giving a push to anyone sprinting through their youth.

Shohei Ihara’s soaring vocals and the tight ensemble create a stunning sense of unity.

It’s a must-listen when you’re about to take on a challenge with your crew.

Included as the seventh track on the mini-album WANDERSOUL, released in September 2018, this song distills SHANK’s driving melodic hardcore sound into a single track.

The lyrics alternate between English and Japanese, expressing the anxiety and regret of the world you see when you close your heart, along with inexplicable irritation and inner conflict.

The sense of frustration over an irreversible past, and a groundless determination to win someday despite it all, are delivered with powerful force through vocalist Shohei Iihara’s high-tone voice.

It’s often performed as a late-set highlight at shows and is said to serve as a trump card that instantly sends the venue’s energy skyrocketing.

Flower of LifeSHANK25rank/position

This is a track included on the album “From Tiny Square Room.” It’s a mid-tempo melodic hardcore song with a classic, straight-up cool vibe.

The power from the C section through to the end is a must-hear! It’s the kind of song that anyone would call cool.

Released in December 2008, SHANK’s first mini-album is an approximately 22-minute record featuring eight tracks.

Unified with English lyrics throughout, it showcases a distinctive high-tone vocal and rapid-fire beats, evoking a clear admiration for overseas melodic hardcore.

Alongside high-speed, adrenaline-charged tunes, it also includes songs with pop-leaning melodies and ska beats, highlighting the band’s versatile expression.

Recommended for fans of melodic hardcore and anyone craving an energetic band sound.

This track was rocking too—though to be precise, it might have been more of a punk sound.

Either way, it’s a high-energy recording, and the fact that it’s short makes it easy to listen to.

If it caught your attention, you’d probably want to see a live band, right?

A drama of parting and resolve told through English lyrics.

While facing the passage of time and the fear of endings, the protagonist makes a striking impression as they try to step forward with memories of someone precious held close.

The refreshing melody, a departure from the band’s traditionally harder image, feels pleasant and reveals more depth with every listen.

Released in January 2017 as the closing track of their fourth full-length album, “Honesty,” the song was also chosen as the ending theme for the TV program “AIR.” It’s an encouraging anthem for anyone entering a season of farewells or preparing to take a new step forward.

I got the sense you like Western music.

It starts off sounding like an acoustic guitar solo performance, then switches into a rock tune midway.

Catchy chord strumming and rhythmic muted power chords.

It gives off that vibe of “it’s best when everyone’s together,” doesn’t it?

It’s Not A GameSHANK30rank/position

It’s included as the ninth track on the 3rd album, “BAiTFiSH Attitude.” The song has a simple, punkish style.

The last phrase of the song is “nananana,” making the lyrics easy to sing and the kind of track that makes you want to sing along.
