Russia is a country that enjoys overwhelming support in classical and metal music.
In Japan, there isn’t much of a culture of listening to foreign music other than English and Korean, so many people may not be familiar with it, but the Russian music scene actually boasts world-class quality.
This time, I’ve picked out some artists and bands that are active in Russia.
I’ve selected songs from a wide range of genres, so please try finding a favorite artist.
Also, the war between Russia and Ukraine is ongoing.

Alla Pugacheva is a Russian female singer known for her distinctive husky voice.
A veteran performer active since 1965, she kept releasing hit songs up until her retirement at age 60.
Her popularity was immense; including the Soviet era, her record sales are said to exceed 250 million.
Her singing voice is extremely powerful, and combined with that husky tone, she has a vibe similar to Japan’s Yuki Katsuragi.
РоманВинтаж

Vintage is a Russian pop group active since the 2000s.
Although the lineup has changed, they essentially perform as a duo centered on music producer Alexey Romanov and singer Anna Pletneva.
While Vintage’s sound is classic pop-rock, they focused on Euro-pop before their debut, and those elements can still be felt in their songs today.
They’re a very catchy duo in Russia, so be sure to check them out.
