Performances that liven up an elementary school thank-you party! A collection of ideas everyone can enjoy

Even if you’ve been put in charge of a performance for an elementary school thank-you party, it can be hard to decide what to do.

You’ll want something that both children and adults can enjoy together.

Don’t worry if you don’t have much time to prepare.

With a bit of creativity, there are plenty of ideas that can turn it into an unforgettable memory—like projection mapping made with PowerPoint, body percussion that can be practiced solo, and quizzes or games that everyone at the venue can join.

Here, we introduce performance ideas for a thank-you party that kids and adults can enjoy together.

Please use them as a reference!

Original Certificate of Appreciation Award Ceremony

Original Certificate of Appreciation Award Ceremony

Certificates are often given to students, but how about presenting a certificate of appreciation from the students and parents to the teachers at the thank-you party? You could elevate the formality with calligraphy, or make it cute by adding illustrations.

It might also be rare and interesting to have the students conduct a formal presentation ceremony for the teachers, just like a principal would.

How about holding a fashion show at the appreciation party where students, teachers, and parents all dress up? Since it’s a special day and everyone’s in their best outfits, let’s have some fun by walking like models and taking commemorative photos.

You could set up a runway and have the MC introduce each model—things like “A hardworking Class 1 student” or “A language arts teacher whose secret hobby is surfing.” That would really liven up the event.

Fruits Basket

Group game: Fruit Basket! The new Sumire class takes on the challenge together! Everyday life at Hachiman Kodomoen (Fukui City). April 2018.
Fruits Basket

If you want a game everyone can enjoy at the thank-you party, Fruit Basket is a great choice.

The usual rules are to divide into groups beforehand, and only the people in the announced group stand up and move.

But it’s also fun to add a twist: announce “People who ___,” and only those who fit that description move.

To give it a graduation feel, try prompts like “People who have taken a class with Mr./Ms.

___” or “People who have been inside the PE equipment storage room.” Looking back on experiences from school life like these is sure to get everyone excited!

Drawing Telephone Game

Is a correct answer impossible? The drawing telephone game! himawari-CH
Drawing Telephone Game

Introducing a drawing-based telephone game that expresses the familiar whisper game through pictures! In this version, players line up in a single file with drawing paper taped to their backs.

The person at the very back draws the given prompt on the back of the person in front, passing it along through the line.

It’s challenging both to guess what the drawing is just from the sensation on your back and to convey the answer with your drawing skills—even adults are guaranteed to have a blast! Whether the best artist should be at the front or at the very back could change the outcome, so the order you line up in might be the key to victory.

Give this game a try!

Sketchbook Relay

Sketchbook Relay

A sketchbook relay is a type of message video where you write a message in a sketchbook, take photos or videos of every student holding it, and then connect all the shots together.

It’s a popular, classic performance for expressing gratitude to teachers who have supported you.

While filming and editing take some effort, the finished video will make the teachers all the more delighted.

Since you can easily handle everything from shooting to editing on a smartphone, why not give it a try?
