One-shot gags using everyday items (1–10)
glass harp

Have you heard of the glass harp? If you put water in a wine glass and run your finger around the rim, it mysteriously produces a beautiful tone! The sound changes depending on the size and shape of the glass and how much water is inside, so if you prepare them to produce different pitches, you can perform songs like in the videos! It might take a bit of effort to set up and practice, but it’s sure to amaze people when you show it off.
Even if you don’t play a full-fledged piece, just using a few glasses to make beautiful sounds could be more than enough as a quick party trick.
Tissue Grab

Here’s a game that livens up parties where entertainment is needed, such as year-end parties, welcome parties, and farewell parties.
In “Tissue Grab,” one person first stands on something high, like a chair, and gently drops a tissue.
Several people waiting below use chopsticks to compete to see who can be the first to catch the tissue as it flutters down.
It’s a simple game that anyone from elementary school kids to adults can play, so no practice is needed—you can start right away after a quick explanation of the rules.
Make a unique chopstick rest from a chopstick sleeve

Many of you have probably seen someone make a simple chopstick rest out of a chopstick wrapper at a drinking party, but how about surprising those around you by making an unusual one? As shown in the video, if you create a chopstick rest with a complex shape, you’re sure to earn instant respect!

This party trick involves using chopsticks to deftly catch a tissue as it floats down through the air.
Since chopsticks and tissues can be found at just about any party venue, it’s something you can show off even when you haven’t prepared anything.
And if you know in advance that you’ll be performing this trick, you could go all-in on a costume—cosplay an anime character or dress like a samurai as a nod to the legend of catching a fly with chopsticks—to make it even more exciting.

Open the dial lock

Some dial locks you can buy at 100-yen shops or home improvement stores can apparently be opened even if you don’t know the combination.
The method is to set all dials to the smallest number, then, starting from the thousands place, pull on the shackle while turning the dial to find the one that moves the most.
Repeat this down to the ones place, and if it goes well, the lock will open.
If you unbox a brand-new dial lock and open it on the spot without looking at the code, it could make for a neat party trick.
Be aware that some locks can’t be opened with this method, so be careful!
Balancing an eyelash on a toothpick

This is a party trick where you try to see how many toothpicks you can balance on your eyelashes.
Not many people can stack a lot using just their natural lashes, so try using mascara to lengthen them and give it a go.
It could be a hit if someone who usually wears little makeup—or a man who’s never worn makeup—goes all out with bold mascara and takes the challenge.
You can try solo and announce, “I got X toothpicks!” to set a personal record, or compete with a group to see who can balance the most, which also sounds fun.
Cut disposable chopsticks with a business card

You’d think it’s absolutely impossible to cut a hard wooden disposable chopstick with a paper business card, right? But it can be done! It takes practice, but once you get the hang of it, you can supposedly do it again and again.
Fix the chopstick at both ends, then swing the business card down from above to cut it.
The key is not to think, “There’s no way I can do this,” but to believe that you can.
Focus your mind and give it your all! When you pull it off, you’re sure to get a round of cheers!
