[Snickers Commercials] Popular and All-Time Ads Summary [2026]

The Snickers commercials are well known for the phrase “You’re not you when you’re hungry.” Born in the United States, the ads have been airing in Japan since the 1980s.

In more recent commercials, the standard setup is that “when you’re hungry, you turn into [someone/something],” featuring a wide range of celebrities, athletes, and musicians.

Many of these spots also include fairly edgy, dark humor, which has sparked a lot of buzz for being so funny.

In this article, we’ll round up and introduce Snickers commercials from over the years.

Mars Japan Limited SNICKERS ‘Attack on Choshu’ VersionRiki Choshu

063 Riki Choshu becomes a giant as an “Advancing Choshu,” saying “I’m not mad,” in Snickers commercial collaborating with Attack on Titan

This is the Attack on Titan x Snickers collaboration commercial from the “Famous People of Attack” series, the “Attack on Choshu” edition.

Riki Choshu—former pro wrestler, now a popular variety show personality known for his witty, buzzworthy tweets—appears as a Titan.

When a Snickers bar is placed in the mouth of the rampaging Choshu, he quietly eats it and turns back into a normal Titan.

His signature line, “I’m not mad,” is, of course, included (lol).

Mars Japan Limited SNICKERS “Attack on Madam” versionMadame Dewi

Attack on Titan Snickers Commercial 2019 Shingeki no Kyojin (Japanese Commercial)

Here’s the collaboration commercial between Snickers and the popular anime Attack on Titan.

Appearing in the familiar “You’re not you when you’re hungry” setup is Dewi Sukarno, a staple on variety shows.

This time, the premise is that a hungry Titan becomes short-tempered like Dewi.

Leaping into the world of Attack on Titan as the “Lady of Attack,” Dewi delivers an overwhelming presence that likely captivated not only anime fans but also viewers who haven’t watched Attack on Titan.

Mars Japan Limited HIPHOP Snickers Ryofu Karuma Edition, First ReleaseRyofu Karma

Lu Fu Karma Snickers commercial

This commercial featuring rapper Ryofu Karma portrays a scenario where one friend in the group “turns into Ryofu Karma” when he gets hungry.

When someone suggests, “Let’s go clothes shopping before we eat,” Ryofu snaps, suddenly starts rapping, and drops a scathing punchline: “Fill your belly before you dress up your exterior.” When they hand him a Snickers, their friend returns to normal—though his Ryofu-Karma-style look, with sunglasses and slicked-back hair, is hilariously hard to forget.

Mars Japan Limited Snickers 2005 commercial

2005 commercial: Snickers

This is a commercial that aired in 2005.

It starts with a man talking on the phone with a woman, who asks him, “What did you do today?” The man then begins recalling his day to a lively original tune: he ate a Snickers and played basketball, ate a Snickers and studied, then ate another Snickers and went to a club… A whole day centered around Snickers.

It’s basically a day that brings the familiar tagline, “You’re not you when you’re hungry” (in Japanese: “If you’re hungry, grab a Snickers”), to life.

Mars Japan Limited SNICKERS “Cheering” VersionYasutaro Matsuki

[Snickers] I Tried Repeating the Video 50 Times [Yasutaro Matsuki]

In this commercial depicting a trio of men watching a soccer match, the premise is that one of them “turns into Yasutaro Matsuki when he gets hungry.” The man who transforms into Matsuki is the junior member of the group, and he watches the game while saying, “Sor-ry! Sor-ry!” His behavior evokes Matsuki’s signature commentary style—often called “Matsuki-isms”—and you can see the senior members getting a bit fed up as the junior’s excitement keeps ramping up.

It’s a longer spot running over two minutes, so it’s definitely worth watching!

Mars Japan Limited SNICKERS Adult Bitter “Paint” Version

SNICKERS Adult Bitter TV Commercial 'Paint' Version 15 Seconds

This is a commercial styled like an interview with a man who works at a painting company.

He says, “When I get hungry, I zone out and end up making mistakes,” and in his daze he accidentally sprays paint on his boss.

The way he sprays with a blank expression—and with such force—almost feels refreshing, doesn’t it? (LOL) The first time he sprays pink paint, the second time green, and in the end he’s handed a dismissal.

Mars Japan Limited SNICKERS × Puzzle & Dragons collaboration campaign “Sharp Tongue” versionYuki Iwai (Haraichi)

Haraichi’s Iwai mercilessly cuts down bandwagon comedians with sharp-tongued barbs — Snickers × Puzzle & Dragons collaboration campaign web commercial “Sarcasm Edition”

This is the “Sarcasm” edition of the collaboration commercial between Snickers and the mobile game Puzzle & Dragons, featuring Iwai from the comedy duo Haraichi.

Iwai vents his frustration about young comedians claiming they’re hooked on Puzzle & Dragons just to get work—he rants passionately, but the key parts are bleeped out, with a Snickers bar humorously covering his mouth so you can’t read his lips.

The ad portrays a disciplined attitude: playing Puzzle & Dragons nonstop until you get hungry, and when you do, grabbing a Snickers and keeping on playing.
