[Snickers Commercials] Popular and All-Time Ads Summary [2026]

The Snickers commercials are well known for the phrase “You’re not you when you’re hungry.” Born in the United States, the ads have been airing in Japan since the 1980s.

In more recent commercials, the standard setup is that “when you’re hungry, you turn into [someone/something],” featuring a wide range of celebrities, athletes, and musicians.

Many of these spots also include fairly edgy, dark humor, which has sparked a lot of buzz for being so funny.

In this article, we’ll round up and introduce Snickers commercials from over the years.

Mars Japan Limited SNICKERS “Sharp-Tongued Idol” VersionAsuka Saito

Nogizaka46’s Asuka Saito turns caustic when hungry? “You guys have never had a girlfriend, have you?”

In this commercial, they use an unexpected setup: “Asuka Saito turns sharp-tongued when she’s hungry.” While three guys are gaming and boasting, “We’re having so much fun gaming we don’t even need girlfriends!”, Saito cuts in with a deadpan, “You guys have never had girlfriends, have you?” Hearing that, their hyped-up mood instantly deflates, and the guys shrink back.

Saito tries to press the attack, but the three cut her off to protect themselves.

The banter between the guys and Saito is funny, of course, and the premise of Saito being brutally sharp-tongued is also hilarious and sure to get laughs.

Mars Japan Limited SNICKERS “PEANUTS BOY” versionIke Nwala, Hitoshi Ozawa

Hitoshi Ozawa plays a tough-looking ogre in the American-style Momotaro?! Ike Nwala bursts out of a peanut as “PEANUTS BOY”! New Snickers web commercial: “PEANUTS BOY” edition

This is a commercial depicting a story called “Peanut Boy,” a parody of the folktale Momotaro.

The protagonist, Peanut Boy, is played by Ike Nwala, and the result is a striking video in which he sings and shows off his dance moves.

The demon that Peanut Boy defeats is played by Hitoshi Ozawa.

Despite his terrifying appearance—his face painted bright red and even sporting horns—Ozawa also breaks into a dance, making for an amusingly surreal turn of events.

With the high energy maintained from start to finish, I bet many viewers couldn’t help but burst out laughing.

Mars Japan Limited SNICKERS ‘Tenshin Nasukawa’ VersionTenshin Nasukawa, Narration: Afro

Tenshin Nasukawa gets weak from hunger before a match!? He transforms into a comic-book-style hero with Snickers. Web CM: “BE A HERO SNICKERS—Tenshin Nasukawa”

A Snickers commercial featuring Tenshin Nasukawa, who switched from kickboxer to boxer.

The ad opens with his inner feelings—confidence, nerves, and anxiety—popping up like manga speech bubbles before a match.

Just as he’s about to be crushed by a sudden wave of anxiety and tension, Snickers appears! After he eats a Snickers, he transforms into a hero and one-punches those enemies called anxiety and nerves.

He regains his confidence, declaring, “I’m the strongest.” It’s a high-impact commercial that blends Nasukawa with animation.

By the way, Nasukawa’s inner voice and the narration are performed by Afro from MOROHA.

Mars Japan Limited SNICKERS “Soccer” VersionErika Sawajiri

SNICKERS® “Soccer Edition” TV Commercial 30 Seconds

The person appearing in this “Soccer” commercial is Erika Sawajiri.

Many were probably surprised by the bold casting choice of featuring Sawajiri—once notorious for her curt “Whatever” remark at a stage greeting—in a Snickers ad, whose signature premise is “you’re not you when you’re hungry.” She makes a strong impression with hard tackles during a soccer match and a superb punt kick.

Her sullen demeanor—reminiscent of that stage appearance—is playfully used as a comedic element in the commercial, making it a highlight to watch!

Mars Japan Limited SNICKERS “Baseball” Editiont.A.T.u.

Snickers Commercial 'Baseball Edition' | 2013 t.A.T.u.

The duo t.A.T.u., whose last-minute cancellation drama once made headlines on Music Station, later revealed that the whole thing had been instructed by their producer.

This commercial is what staged them as “divas.” Despite the bold casting and direction, it cleverly plays it all as a gag—SNICKERS commercials are amazing like that! From the scene where a glove gets thrown far away to the moment the two feed each other SNICKERS, the video is packed with highlights.

Mars Japan Limited SNICKERS 2003 Commercial

[Nostalgic Commercial] Snickers 2003 Retro Japanese Commercials

This begins with a scene where two young people sitting in office chairs with casters get bumped by another young person; it’s a commercial that aired in 2003.

When they’re bumped, they receive a Snickers bar, and that prompts the two to start speeding up while still seated in their chairs.

They pass through the station ticket gates just like that and, in the end, board a train.

The commercial closes with the narration, “Packed with power,” emphasizing that although it’s small, it’s high in calories and perfect for replenishing energy.

The fashion style—complete with large headphones, hats, and other accessories—leaves a strong impression of the early 2000s.

Mars Japan Limited SNICKERS ‘Petrified Kusanagi’ VersionKoki Kusanagi (Miyashita Kusanagi)

SNICKERS® × Dr.STONE “Petrified Kusanagi” Version - 30 Seconds

This is a collaboration commercial between Snickers and the anime Dr.

STONE.

As soon as the anime sequence starts, a familiar-looking stone statue appears…

The statue is Kusanagi from the comedy duo Miyashita Kusanagi.

When a Snickers bar is popped into the mouth of stone-turned Kusanagi, the petrification breaks and he returns to his human self.

The voice is done by Kusanagi himself, of course, and his distinct way of speaking will make you laugh.

Even while saying, “What if it’s a trap?” he eats a ton of Snickers.

Even as an anime character, his timid demeanor remains perfectly intact—classic Kusanagi.
