Spring is when colorful flowers bloom and insects begin to move about energetically.

Many teachers may be thinking, “I want children to feel the charms of spring!”

So this time, we’ve gathered spring-themed craft ideas recommended for four-year-olds.

Packed with fun projects that incorporate spring motifs familiar to children—like cherry blossoms, dandelions, butterflies, and ladybugs!

These ideas focus on enjoying self-expression while expanding their imaginations, as well as experiencing a variety of techniques and materials, so be sure to check them out.

Here’s a dandelion craft made with a sponge stamp.

The process is the same as making a traditional tampo stamp, but since you use a sponge, it seems easy to make.

Wrap a sponge around the tip of a disposable chopstick and secure it with a rubber band—your stamp is ready.

Then stamp orange paint onto a yellow piece of construction paper cut into a dandelion shape, and it’s complete.

You can display it on the wall as is, or add a stem and leaves to make it look even more like a dandelion.

When infants are making it, wrapping the chopstick with colored tape or vinyl tape can make it safer to use!

Let me introduce a smile flower you can make out of construction paper, featuring an adorable smiling face.

Prepare several colors of construction paper, double-sided tape, scissors, and colored pens.

Cut nine circles out of the construction paper and fold each one in half.

Using colorful paper is recommended because it makes the finished piece look more vibrant.

Apply double-sided tape to the upper back side of each piece, then stick all nine together to form a sphere.

Gently press it open to flatten it into a flower shape.

Once the flower shape is formed, attach circular pieces to the front and back as the flower’s center, and draw the facial expression.

Roll a strip of construction paper to make the stem, attach it along with some leaves, and you’re done.

It’s also fun to play with the colors and arrangement for a unique look.

Let’s make memories together! Here are some ideas for creating cherry blossoms with hand painting.

All you need is poster paper, paint, a roller, and scissors.

Spring is the season of meetings and farewells—how about making cherry blossoms with the whole class? Paint the cherry tree using a roller, and use the children’s handprints to represent the cherry blossom petals.

It’s also lovely to display photos of the children next to the cherry blossoms.

Just looking at it makes you excited!

Puchi-puchi butterfly

When spring comes, don’t you find butterflies more often even in the kindergarten yard? Let’s make butterflies that herald spring using bubble wrap as cushioning material! We’ll use bubble wrap to create the butterfly wings.

Cut the bubble wrap into a rectangle and draw butterfly patterns on it with a permanent marker.

It’s easier to draw on the flat back side rather than the bumpy side.

Pinch and tightly tie the center with a chenille stem (pipe cleaner), then make the butterfly’s body and face with colored construction paper and stick them on to finish.

Try making the antennae with a chenille stem as well.

Dandelions Made of Pipe Cleaners and Yarn

Shuwa-shuwa Honey Lemon 350ml – Sharou

Would you like to make a three-dimensional dandelion with adorable fluffy yarn flowers? Let’s start by making the flower.

Prepare a suitable pen and hold it together with a yellow pipe cleaner.

Wind yellow yarn around the pen and pipe cleaner 40 times, then remove the pen and tie the loops together with the pipe cleaner.

Thread a green pipe cleaner through the yellow one and wrap it around to cover the yellow pipe cleaner, forming the stem.

Cut through the center of the yarn loops, then trim the ends into a rounded shape to create a pom-pom effect.

Finally, thread a felt leaf onto the stem, and you’re done.

It’s a very cute, spring-like idea!

Cherry blossoms made with lace paper

Perfect for little ones too! Here’s a cherry blossom craft idea using lace paper.

You’ll need lace paper, construction paper cut into a tree shape, paint, glue, construction paper, round masking-tape stickers, and scissors.

First, tint the lace paper with paint thinned with water.

Once it’s dry, glue on the tree-shaped construction paper.

Next, snip the round masking-tape stickers to create cherry blossom petals and stick them on.

Finally, cut the backing paper along the silhouette—and you’re done!

Colorful Tulips Made from Scrap Materials

Let me introduce colorful tulips made from upcycled materials, featuring adorable, multicolored flowers.

Prepare a toilet paper roll, colored pens, paints, and brushes.

Gently flatten the toilet paper roll and draw the outline of a tulip.

Cut it into the tulip shape with scissors, then paint it.

Once the paint is dry, draw patterns on the inside to finish.

You don’t have to paint the inside, but doing so makes it look even more spring-like, so it’s recommended.

After adding patterns on the inside, your tulip is complete!
