Brain Training Calendar with Cherry Blossoms
@happy_kizuna This month as well! We made an April calendar 🌸 We designed it by moving our fingertips with tissue paper flowers and had everyone come up with the final words for a spring haiku 📝 It’s an irresistibly one-of-a-kind piece 💛 The original haiku is by Ayako Hosomi 😊 Cherry blossoms bloom— in full splendor, yet feeling lonely.Care Center KizunaCalendar#CherryBlossomworkSpring craftsAyako Hosomi

How about designing a calendar with cherry blossoms created by crumpling tissue paper? Next to the cherry tree, there is also a haiku by Ayako Hosomi.
It’s a clever two-for-one idea: moving your fingers with the crumpling motion and then coming up with your own final line to turn it into brain training.
It’s fun to think, “What kind of haiku should I make?” while you’re crumpling, and natural conversation will likely blossom with those working alongside you.
As you share spring-themed verses, moments of “I see!”—along with delight and laughter—will emerge, ensuring a wonderful crafting time.
Hinamatsuri Doll Carrying Game

Place the hina dolls and the imperial prince and princess made from cups on a base attached to a string.
Participants should pull the string with their feet to reel in the base.
Try not to knock over the dolls as much as possible.
You can decide the winner by how many cups remain standing, or assign points in advance and compete based on the points of the dolls that stay upright.
Since you have to use your feet firmly to pull it in, it’s also perfect for a lower-body workout!

Cup Hina Doll Making

Let’s have fun creating crafts perfect for Hinamatsuri.
Wrap cotton in tissue, then wrap that in fabric to make a cushion.
Place this cushion in a cupcake liner, then attach a collar cut from fabric and face and hair parts made of paper.
Add bead eyes and a fan to finish.
Make the Emperor doll the same way and display the two side by side.
If you use a cup with a lid, you can keep it on display every year without dust collecting on it.
The cushion fabric will serve as the kimono pattern, so prepare any design you like.
Paper Cup Fishing

Let me introduce a fun indoor game called “Paper Cup Fishing.” You’ll need paper cups, newspaper, disposable chopsticks and tape, and some wire.
First, draw your favorite sea creatures on the paper cups.
If drawing isn’t your strong suit, you can paste on printed illustrations instead.
Tear newspaper into thin strips by hand and attach them to the paper cups.
The length changes the difficulty, so you can also play by making larger “fish” harder to catch.
Make a fishing rod with the chopsticks, a fishing line with newspaper, and a hook with wire—then you’re ready to go! Line up the paper cups (your fish) on a table and catch them with the rod.
You can play in different ways, like “first to catch five wins” or “whoever catches the most in 30 seconds wins.” While playing, you’ll use many parts of the body—shoulders, elbows, wrists, and fingertips—so it’s also effective as occupational therapy.
It’s perfect for recreational activities at senior care facilities, too.
Happy Hinamatsuri Exercise

Let’s start some simple and fun exercises while singing the children’s song “Ureshii Hinamatsuri”! First, when the lyrics mention the bonbori lanterns, extend both hands forward and lift one foot at the same time.
Next, clap your hands and then touch your knees with those hands.
There’s also a motion like drumming a taiko.
The movements are generally slow, so spread your arms wide and step your feet forward firmly.
Every move can be done either standing or seated, so we hope many people will enjoy them for Hinamatsuri.
Amazake Soy Milk Pudding

Here’s an idea for a fun time: make homemade “Amazake Pudding,” perfect for Hinamatsuri.
Soak gelatin in 100 cc of soy milk, add your preferred amount of sugar, and warm it in a saucepan while dissolving everything together.
Once well mixed, pour into pudding cups and chill in the refrigerator until fully set.
Finish by topping with strawberry sauce and strawberries for a cute, festive Hinamatsuri dessert.
With the gentle sweetness of amazake and a creamy texture, this homemade pudding is a delight for everyone—both its look and taste are sure to satisfy.
From making it to enjoying it, it’s perfect for a Hinamatsuri filled with smiles.
Spring Bingo

A classic recreation game: Bingo.
Speaking of Bingo, you usually have a card with numbers and mark off the numbers called by a machine.
But this “Spring Bingo” is a word bingo that lets you savor the atmosphere and charm of spring by using plenty of spring-related words.
Choose your favorite words from the many expressions of spring and fill in the blank squares.
After that, it plays like regular bingo, but conversations about spring events and flower names make it lively—a recreation that’s fun even beyond the bingo itself.
