Corner clip rice balls and sandwiches
Let’s make onigiri rice balls and sandwiches using corner clips for holding papers! For the onigiri, stick double-sided tape on the clip, then attach white, long-pile yarn to it.
Next, glue a small square of black felt on top to act as the seaweed, and it’s done! It’s also fun to tuck pieces of felt that look like fillings into the gap of the clip.
For the sandwich, prepare white felt cut into a triangle like bread, and felt cut into shapes for ham and lettuce.
Stick them together with double-sided tape in the order of fillings, then bread, and you’re finished! You can customize both the onigiri and sandwiches by changing the colors of felt and the types of “fillings” you cut out.

Perfect for a summer vacation project! Why not try sweets art with “Japanese-style pancakes made from clay”? Recreate pancakes in clay to look amazingly real—fluffy batter topped with whipped cream, sweet red bean paste, chestnuts, and sweet potato, inspired by traditional Japanese ingredients.
It’s a stylish and fun craft that results in Japanese sweets that look just like the real thing.
The key to making it realistic is carefully reproducing details like the browned, toasted color.
Try adding the browning with a sponge.
You can also display your creation in your room and use it as decor!
Make and Play! Cake Shop

Simple to make yet impressive enough to make you say “Wow!” This craft lets you create a realistic-looking blackberry cake and have fun while doing it.
You can easily get the materials at 100-yen shops, and it’s simple to do at home.
Using soft, squishy paper clay, you can make adorable sweets that are fun to touch and pleasing to the eye! Practice your decorating skills with piping cream and coloring, and boost your sense of design.
With a little creativity, you can open your very own one-of-a-kind “cake shop.” After you’re done, play cake shop with friends or display your creation as a perfect room decor piece.
Shaka-shaka accessory pouch
Just looking at it is soothing! Here are some ideas for a “shaka-shaka” trinket case.
Some kids might want to make their own favorite cute container.
This time, let’s make a shaka-shaka trinket case using materials you can find at a 100-yen shop.
You’ll need a clear round gift box, beads and charms, tape, and washi tape.
Put the beads and charms into the lid of the gift box, then secure it to the bottom part of the container with tape—and you’re done! Adding decorative washi tape to the container itself will make it even more festive.

Jewel Crayon

Let’s make gem-like crayons using crayons and chocolate molds you can get at a 100-yen shop! The method is simple: place small, broken pieces of colorful crayons into a heat-resistant mold and microwave at 500 watts for about 8 minutes.
Adjust the time while checking how well they’re melting.
Once the melted, blended crayons have cooled and solidified, pop them out of the mold and they’re done.
Add glitter for an even more jewel-like sparkle! The patterns will vary depending on the types of crayons and color combinations.
Have fun experimenting and enjoy the results!
kaleidoscope

Let’s make a kaleidoscope using marbles, a candy tube, and acrylic mirrors.
First, cut the mirrors into rectangular pieces and make six identical ones.
Score them with a utility knife and snap them cleanly to cut.
Pair them up in twos and join each pair horizontally, then line up the three resulting pieces vertically with a 2 mm gap and secure them with tape.
Peel off the protective film from the mirrors and glue them together to form a triangular prism.
Make a hole in the bottom of the tube that is small enough so the marble won’t fall through, and make a viewing hole in the lid.
Insert the marble first and then the mirrors into the tube, place the slightly shortened lid on top, and your marble kaleidoscope is complete!
rubber band gun

Despite its simple appearance, a rubber band gun is the kind of toy just about any boy will want to try making at least once.
You can build one with materials found at home, like cardboard and rubber bands, so it’s a perfect quick craft even if you’re in a pinch—say, when summer vacation homework still isn’t done! With a bit of ingenuity, you can even make a cool, high-function model capable of three consecutive shots.
Add your own decorations and you’ve got a one-of-a-kind creation.
Plus, if you make targets from items like toilet paper rolls, you can actually play with it—so why not craft and have fun together with friends or family?
