Break the ice with intros and team battles! Party games to spice up your welcome event

It’s about time for welcome parties, isn’t it?

With new students and fresh graduates coming in, many of you are probably planning welcome events.

In this article, we’ll introduce party games and fun activities that will liven up your welcome party.

If you’re thinking, “I want games that are fun even with people meeting for the first time,” or “I want to plan simple, easy-to-run games,” this will be a great reference.

In particular, games that help you learn about each other through self-introductions, and team-based cooperative games, are recommended because they make it easier to get to know one another and create a friendly atmosphere.

Now, let’s take a look at our recommended games!

Queen of the Knot Championship

Queen of the Knot Championship

You win by tying someone else’s necktie the fastest.

That’s all there is to the game, so as long as you have a tie, you’re set.

The title is “Queen of Knots,” but it should be fun even if only men compete.

If new employees who aren’t yet used to neckties face off, it’s sure to get exciting.

Ping-pong ball relay

It’s a game that tests speed and teamwork, played like a relay using a spoon with a ping-pong ball on it.

The course has you go around set cones and come back, focusing on balance so you don’t drop the ping-pong ball.

Because teams compete on speed, the rush to go faster makes it harder to keep your balance with the ball.

A rule where two people hold hands and walk back adds a cooperative element, so that version is also recommended.

You could also call it a “solo Daruma-otoshi.” Stack several floor cushions, sit on them, and then remove the cushions one by one from the bottom while keeping yourself suspended.

It’s a perfect game for a tatami-room party and a good test of stamina for new employees.

The real fun begins once everyone’s quite drunk.

It’s a chance to show your boss that you can deliver results in any situation.

Towel Sumo

Prepare two towels, hook them together, and play a game where the person who gets pulled and moves loses.

Since it’s an individual competition, running it as a tournament makes it more exciting.

Having a prize ready for the champion should really heat things up!

Hit-and-run game

[Banquet/Party Game] Aim to be a bunt master! Hit & Run Game — Bunt Hit and Run Game
Hit-and-run game

It’s a game where you bunt the ball into a basket like in baseball, and once you get it in, you switch to the next person.

The team in which everyone finishes first wins.

It’s easy to play even if you don’t have baseball experience, so give it a try!

Is it an enlargement?

Fast buzzer ping-pong! What is it when enlarged? [Party/Game for Banquets and Parties]
Is it an enlargement?

It’s a game where an enlarged image is shown and you buzz in to answer what’s being magnified.

It’s a quiz you often see on TV, right? When you actually try it, it can be pretty difficult.

Even slightly ambiguous close-ups of objects can be fun to look at, don’t you think?

After-the-fact rock-paper-scissors game

[Banquet/Party Game] Engage your brain to the max! Reverse Rock-Paper-Scissors Game
After-the-fact rock-paper-scissors game

As the name suggests, it’s a game of after-the-fact rock-paper-scissors.

The host gives instructions like “please lose” or “please win,” and at the cue of “rock, paper, scissors!” everyone must throw their hand after the host.

It makes you think and is deceptively difficult.

You can also make it more fun by doing a last-person-standing format and turning it into a tournament.

NG word game

[Experiment] We did an NG word showdown in a girl's room and it led to an unexpected ending…
NG word game

It’s a game where each person is assigned an NG word they’re not allowed to say, and the goal is to make others say theirs.

You play without knowing your own NG word, so it’s recommended to set words based on each person’s typical phrases or catchphrases.

Since you need a lot of conversation to get someone to say their word, it naturally helps everyone get closer.

In conclusion

We introduced party games and recreational activities that liven up a welcome party. Since there will be many people meeting for the first time, focusing on games that help you get to know each other and team-based cooperative games will likely make it enjoyable for everyone. Let’s plan it so that all participants can have fun and go home happy!
