A collection of Western songs with titles that start with numbers

In this article, I’ll be introducing classic Western songs whose titles begin with numbers.

When it comes to number-starting titles, some consist of numbers only, while others have words following the numbers.

If you’re knowledgeable about Western music, you might already have a few songs in mind.

That said, we don’t often search for songs by categories like “titles that start with XX,” so this could be a great chance to discover wonderful tracks you didn’t know before.

Take this opportunity to listen to a variety of songs!

Included on the 1971 album “The Electric Light Orchestra.” A British rock duo formed in 1970, they scored a string of hits from their debut through the 1980s and enjoyed worldwide popularity.

This is their debut single.

Its slightly unconventional, twisty rock sound adds a distinctive flavor.

50 Words For Snow (2018 Remaster)
50 Words For SnowKate Bush

From the artistic and fantastical Kate Bush album “50 Words for Snow,” this is the sixth track, the title number.

As the name suggests, fifty snow-related words are counted up one by one.

In the chorus, the remaining number is indicated, and it’s noteworthy that the count decreases in the first, second, and third verses.

Even though it’s almost nothing but words throughout, their order and the way they’re grouped evoke other associations and invite us to imagine some kind of story.

It’s an exquisitely literary and delicate songwriting style—one that surely AI could never create—that leaves me in awe.

An intergenerational collaboration that carries the spirit of punk rock into the present has come to life! This work, featuring Billy Idol—Britain’s legendary rock icon—and Canada’s Avril Lavigne, is a powerful piece that symbolically captures the 1977 punk rock movement.

Their distinctive vocals weave together in harmony, perfectly matched with an energetic sound.

As the second single from the album “Dream Into It,” it was released on April 22, 2025.

A joint appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! is scheduled for April 28 of the same year, poised to serve as a bridge that brings the allure of punk rock to a new generation of listeners.

Blending rebellious spirit with melodic sensibilities, this track is perfect for listeners seeking the very essence of rock music.

A track by the American funk band Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings from their self-titled album released in 2007.

The song, which incorporates elements of 1960s funk and Afrobeat, was used in a commercial for Fitbit, an American fitness device company.

5150Van Halen

How many guitarists in the world can generate this much drive with just the intro riff alone? And then comes the rich, full-bodied chord work that unfolds afterward.

Dropping the rhythm for the first verse, then surging back through the pre-chorus and chorus with racing rhythm and melody.

After pushing a synth-forward feel on their previous album, 1984, Van Halen intentionally arranged this track to spotlight the guitar, and Eddie’s guitar work absolutely shines.

It’s also the title track of the album 5150—pronounced “fifty-one fifty”—a name given to the private studio used by the Van Halen brothers.

1975Incognito

Speaking of Incognito, they are one of the most globally renowned bands from London, UK, known for jazz-funk and acid jazz.

This track, with its soothing female vocals that evoke classic acid jazz, is a fan favorite from their acclaimed 2010 album Transatlantic RPM.

Since forming in 1979, they’ve continued to release music consistently, and the album itself—featuring familiar favorite Maysa Leak as well as guest appearances by artists like Chaka Khan and Leon Ware—stands as a work truly fitting for their 30th anniversary milestone.
