Soba ni Iru ne, Aoyama Thelma’s signature song released in 2008, was created as an answer song to SoulJa’s track Koko ni Iru yo and became a massive hit thanks to its relatable lyrics.

Many people may also remember that the song was featured in a NTT Docomo commercial at the time.

The CM portrayed the feelings of a female student about to enter high school, and those who were going through the same transition likely resonated strongly with it.

Fourteen years later, in 2022, Aoyama Thelma was once again featured in a Docomo commercial celebrating the company’s 30th anniversary, which also drew attention.

This song was released to the world in a then-unusual way: the full-length chaku-uta version of “Koi no Download” was distributed in January 2006, followed by the CD release in March.

“Yukie Nakama with Downloads” was a unit formed for a commercial, but the song actually got an official release.

It didn’t stay confined to being just a unit for a CM project; the full-fledged track featuring Yukie Nakama on vocals became a hot topic.

Many of you might also remember the music video for this song.

Her song “M” was also used in the commercial.

People outside the Kanto and Tokai regions may not be familiar with the ad, but the song was a major hit and is one of Ayumi Hamasaki’s signature tracks.

Released in 2000, it was her 19th single and a very popular number.

Despite its popularity, it’s a sad love song that depicts a breakup with a lover.

The Shiseido sunscreen ANESSA commercial is memorable in part because it featured Yuri Ebihara, known as Ebi-chan.

The song used in the ad was Ketsumeishi’s “Mata Kimi ni Aeru” (“I’ll See You Again”), their 15th single, released in 2007.

It also drew attention because Ebihara appeared not only in the commercial but in the music video for the song as well.

Known for their strong association with summer tunes, Ketsumeishi deliver another track here that lets you fully soak in the summer vibe.
