Commercial songs from Western music that were hits in the 2000s. Popular commercial songs (11–20)
Stayin’ AliveBee Gees

The Bee Gees, a group that gained popularity for their musical style blending adult contemporary, soft rock, baroque pop, and psychedelic pop.
They’re a British group who debuted in Australia and made their name in the United States—quite a complicated background, haha.
This song, used in a 2008 commercial for Honda’s Odyssey minivan, gained popularity with its funky sound and became an international hit.
Dragostea Din TeiNEW!O-Zone

This is the commercial that became a hot topic because Rihō Yoshioka reprised her role as the familiar “Don-Gitsune” from the Donbei ads for the first time in four years.
It introduces how different broths are used in eastern and western Japan, and Yoshioka taking a sip and letting out a relieved breath leaves a strong impression.
The BGM features a parody song with the catchy repeated lyrics “delicious broth,” and the original track is “Dragostea Din Tei” by O-Zone from Moldova.
Released in 2003, the song became a huge hit in Japan in 2004 and drew attention for its lyrics that, for some reason, sounded like Japanese.
SweetnessJimmy Eat World

Jimmy Eat World has gained popularity as an emblematic emo band.
Formed in 1993, they’ve remained one of the genre’s most representative groups from the ’90s to today.
They were already popular during their indie days, but the song “Sweetness” was what really propelled them to wider fame.
Used in Asahi Super Dry’s commercial in 2008, the track drew attention for its emotionally charged melodies, a hallmark of emo.
Jerk It OutCaesars

Caesars is a rock band that has gained popularity for a sound rooted in alternative rock and garage rock.
Hailing from Sweden, the band was originally called Caesars Palace, but since there was a casino with the same name in the United States, they changed their name to Caesars for their U.S.
debut.
The song that sparked their breakthrough is Jerk It Out, which gained international popularity after being used in an iPod commercial.
You’re BeautifulJames Blunt

James Blunt is a singer-songwriter from England with the unusual background of being a former soldier.
His song “You’re Beautiful” is his biggest hit and was used in commercials for Toyota and the shampoo brand TSUBAKI.
Although it’s a very well-known song, it actually received very low acclaim overseas; because it became too much of a hit, people ended up disliking it.
In a UK poll of the most annoying things, it even took first place (lol).
It’s a rather sad reason—being too successful.
Digital LoveDaft Punk

Daft Punk is an electronic duo from France.
They’re internationally popular artists known for an electro sound rooted in house and techno.
Their biggest draw is, without a doubt, their masterful sampling.
They arrange original tracks that are so quirky you can’t help but think, “You sampled it from there?” Their song Digital Love is renowned as one of their classics and was used in a GAP commercial, among others.
If you like digital sounds, be sure to check it out.

Hoobastank is an American hard rock band.
This song, Just One, was included on their second album, The Reason, released in 2003.
The song was used in a commercial for Asahi Beer.
