My body is black and white. I’m a popular animal at the zoo. I love bamboo.

panda
If the only hint is a black-and-white animal, a zebra could be a candidate, but when you add that it’s a bamboo-loving crowd favorite, the answer is a panda. Beloved for their adorable appearance, pandas are said to be shy and gentle by nature. They spend most of the day eating and sleep for a few hours in between.
I am in the desert. I can carry people. I have humps.

camel
Don’t you have an image of camels walking through the desert carrying people? Also, the hump—mentioned as the third hint—is a characteristic unique to camels. It’s said that the hump contains fat, and that camels store nutrients their bodies need by converting them into fat.
I’m capricious. I like high places. My cry is “meow.”

cat
When you think of an animal that goes “meow,” it’s a cat, right? And cats love high places! Sometimes you see one that’s climbed a tree and can’t get down. They come to you for affection and then walk away… That fickle personality is probably one reason we’re so smitten with cats.
I am a mammal. I often spend time in the water. I have a big mouth.

hippopotamus
The hippopotamus is the next largest animal after elephants and rhinoceroses. You can find them in zoos, often poking their heads out of the water. Their large mouths are distinctive, too. However, it’s said that their big mouths aren’t for eating more, but for showing off their long tusks.
I have big antlers. I live in a cold region. I’m a companion of Santa.

reindeer
When it comes to the animal that pulls Santa’s sleigh, it’s the reindeer. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is especially famous. Reindeer are members of the deer family, but they’re known for being the only species in which both males and females have antlers. The antlers fall off seasonally and grow back again.
My body is pink. The shape of my beak is distinctive. I stand on one leg.

flamingo
The fact that it has a beak is a big clue, isn’t it? Speaking of beaks, that suggests a bird, and if it has a pink body and is good at standing on one leg, the answer is a flamingo. Since it’s a water bird, it has long legs with webbed feet and a long neck that’s useful for catching fish.
I am born from an egg. I’m laid-back. I have a hard shell.
See the answer
turtle
The answer is the turtle. Sea turtles laying eggs, which makes them look like they’re crying, is well known. There seem to be species that lay on land and species that give birth in the water, but turtles lay eggs, and the babies hatch from them. Turtles may look like slowpokes in their movements, but the babies bustle about busily at first and eventually learn to swim at a leisurely pace.
