A butterfly that makes swipe art fun
Recommended for preschoolers! Here’s a fun butterfly idea using swipe art.
Swipe art is an art style that uses a swiping motion—sliding your finger or a tool—while drawing.
Colors spread like flowing paint, and you can enjoy unpredictable blends while creating something dynamic! This time, let’s make the butterfly from the popular children’s book “The Very Hungry Caterpillar.” It’s a great way to enjoy the mixing and changing of colors.

Let’s create crafts using children’s handprints! Here are some handprint butterfly ideas.
Art made with children’s handprints turns into wonderful keepsakes.
The charm is that by taking their handprints, you can preserve their growth and a moment in time as a record! Use your child’s favorite paint colors and enjoy making it in a fun atmosphere.
What you’ll need: construction paper, paint, pipe cleaners, tape, scissors, glue, and a pen.
It would also be fun to display butterflies made with teachers’ or guardians’ handprints side by side with the children’s.
Butterflies made by dyeing with colored water
Let me show you how to make butterflies dyed with colored water.
Prepare kitchen paper towels, construction paper, pipe cleaners, tape, scissors, paint, and empty containers.
Cut the paper towels into four equal pieces, stack them, and tie the center with a pipe cleaner.
Round off both ends of the paper towels with scissors, then unfold them to form the butterfly’s wings.
Dissolve the paint to make colored water in your favorite shades, and dip the paper-towel butterfly in to add color—your spring-like butterfly is complete.
Add a face made from construction paper to create your own cute, original butterfly!

Colorful butterflies made with balloon stamps
https://www.tiktok.com/@hoiku.labo/video/7340139460689939730The bouncy, tapping feel is so much fun! Here’s an idea for making colorful butterflies with balloon stamps.
A balloon stamp is an art technique where you inflate a balloon, dab it in paint, and tap it onto drawing paper to add color.
This time, we’ll use balloon stamps to create butterflies that let you enjoy beautiful color blending.
Adjust the size of the balloon to fit your child’s hand.
Take this opportunity to give it a try!
Butterflies made with round stickers

Here’s a spring-like butterfly you can make using round stickers.
Prepare in advance the round stickers, felt-tip pens, pipe cleaners, pre-cut butterfly wings, and pre-cut butterfly faces.
Start by decorating the butterfly wings with round stickers to create patterns.
It’s recommended to use a variety of colors for the stickers.
For the butterfly’s face, have them draw the eyes and mouth with felt-tip pens.
Attach a pipe cleaner to the butterfly’s head and curl the tips—that’s it! You’re done.
You might also like to stick them on the wall and add spring flowers around them for a soft, spring-themed display.
Butterflies made with paper quilling
Paper quilling is a craft in which you roll thin strips of paper around a skewer to make parts, then combine them to create a variety of designs.
Here is an idea for making a butterfly with paper quilling.
You’ll make four wings and a pair of antennae.
For the wings, roll the paper around a skewer, glue it with double-sided tape, then pinch it into a teardrop shape.
For the antennae, prepare two thin strips of paper, attach them together at one end, and curl each strip outward.
Once you’ve glued all the parts together, you’re done! Try varying the paper’s color, width, and length to create all kinds of butterflies and decorate your wall with them.
A three-dimensional butterfly with softly fluttering wings

Let me share an idea for making a 3D butterfly using stamped construction paper! First, fold a piece of construction paper in half and cut it into a heart shape.
Then fold both sides along the central crease to make clear fold lines.
Make the center line a mountain fold and the two side lines valley folds.
Once that’s done, stamp the rounded parts of the heart.
Next, prepare two long, narrow pieces of stamped construction paper and glue their ends together to make two wings.
Be sure to glue the ends so they form a 90-degree angle.
Finally, attach the wings to the heart base and add pipe-cleaner antennae to finish.
When you hang it on the wall, the softly fluttering wings look super cute!
