Heave-ho!!!Hashimoto Reia, Sekizawa Tomoka

Rea Hashimoto and Tomoka Sekizawa, who performed together in the idol group AIS, are both from Fukushima Prefecture.
AIS was a J-pop group that began activities in 2016 with the concept of “carrying on idol songs of the 21st century.” Centered on live performances, their style emphasized unity with fans, as seen in their disbandment concert where they passionately performed 23 songs.
Although they didn’t have a specific original hit, they gained popularity through their mission of passing down classic idol songs.
Both members commuted from Fukushima to Tokyo for activities, and after the group disbanded, they even held a triumphant return performance in Koriyama.
Currently, Hashimoto is active as a talent and cosplayer, while Sekizawa focuses mainly on livestreaming.
If you appreciate earnest idol personas and passionate live performances, they’re definitely worth following.
Ah, my homeland.Fukushima Hajime

Enka singer Hajime Fukushima, who channels his feelings for his hometown into song, hails from Minamisoma City in Fukushima Prefecture.
He debuted in 1996 with the single “Onna no Kasane Yume / Hitoritabi” under the name Masahiro Takada.
After several stage-name changes—to Akira Tsubaki and then Hajime Fukushima—he adopted his current name following the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake, expressing his commitment to the recovery of himself and his hometown.
His representative songs include “Yugiri no Yado” and “Kitaguni Shūressha” (The Last Train of the North).
Building on the solid foundation he developed from a young age through folk songs and the shamisen, he continues to broaden his expressive range, even taking on the challenge of singing without kobushi vocal ornamentation.
He also contributes to his hometown through music, serving as a Minamisoma City Hometown Ambassador.
Highly recommended for those who want to hear classic, heart-stirring enka and kayōkyoku.
College Cosmosgunji nao

Nao Gunji, a former member of the active college-student idol group College Cosmos, is from Fukushima Prefecture.
In the group, she performed J-pop and idol pop infused with perspectives unique to university students.
She made her debut in March 2019 with the triple A-side single “Yume wa Ijiwaru / Kotoba no Mizu wo Roka Shitai / Kigou Nanka ja Nai Watashitachi wa.” While still in school, she won the Grand Prix at the Miss Nichigei Contest in November 2019, showcasing her impressive versatility.
With hobbies like piano and guitar, she has a strong musical foundation, and there’s much anticipation for her future activities.
She’s perfect not only for fans of fresh, intellectual idol pop, but also for anyone who wants to experience her wide-ranging expressive abilities.
Even when we’re apartHasegawa Momoka

Momoka Hasegawa, a former AKB48 member who is now expanding her career as an actress, hails from Fukushima Prefecture.
She was introduced in October 2019 as the Fukushima representative of AKB48 Team 8, marking the start of her idol career.
Although she did not release any solo songs, in March 2021 she surprised many viewers when she was unexpectedly selected as the center for one of the group’s most popular songs on a music program.
After concluding her group activities, she transitioned to acting and now shines on a new stage.
With an expressive power distinct from her idol days that captivates audiences, she is one of Fukushima’s proud young talents whose future success is highly anticipated.
Mary Janetsunoda☆hiro

Hiro Tsunoda (stylized as Tsunoda☆Hiro), who works as a singer and drummer, is from Hanawa, Higashishirakawa District, Fukushima Prefecture.
The star “☆” between Tsunoda and Hiro was added to clearly separate his family and given names and because the flow sounded awkward without it.
Incidentally, he chose a white star rather than a black one, as a black star is considered unlucky.
Armed with the drumming skills he began developing in junior high school, he made his professional debut at 18 as a member of the Happy Cats.
He later performed as a drummer with prominent artists such as Tokiko Kato and Miyuki Nakajima.
In 1971, his song released as a singer, “Mary Jane,” became a major hit.
He went on to write songs for artists like Naoko Ken and Saori Minami, gaining recognition as a lyricist and composer as well.

Noboru Kirishima was a popular singer from Okumura, Futaba District, Fukushima Prefecture (now Okumachi, Iwaki City), and this song was released in 1940.
Set to a flowing, elegant melody, it sings of memories from far away from his hometown—of the hills and fields where he played with friends, and the loneliness of seeing his older sister off to be married.
Noboru Kirishima received the Medal with Purple Ribbon in 1970 and the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette, in 1984.
