Rina Katahira, a singer-songwriter known for her poppy, cute melodies and vocals, hails from Fukushima City in Fukushima Prefecture.
She started playing guitar and, astonishingly, performed just two years later at the teen-only summer festival “Senko Riot 2011,” where she won the Special Jury Prize.
With the song “Natsu no Yoru” that she showcased at the time, she made her major-label debut in 2013.
Only six months after that debut, she performed overseas and became the first Japanese woman to be named an officially endorsed artist by the guitar brand Epiphone.
Even after leaving her agency in 2018, she has continued to pursue her music career energetically as an independent artist.

Tsukimi, a “fired-up gal-style rock band” that fuses a hard-hitting sound with gyaru culture, hails from Iwaki City in Fukushima Prefecture.
They currently perform as a duo: vocalist/guitarist Nini-chan and drummer/backing vocalist Shuka.
Staying true to a DIY ethos, they pursue a distinctive sound powered by energetic performances and emotionally rich lyrics.
Their signature tracks include Midnight Seventh and Uso Rock, available on streaming services and YouTube.
While active in the indie scene, they’ve earned a strong reputation for their live shows, performing energetically from their hometown in Fukushima to Tokyo.
Their powerful, charismatic stage presence captivates audiences in an instant.
Now performing as a trio lineup, they’re the perfect band for anyone who loves energetic rock and wants to experience the unity of a live show.
SenbonzakuraKaminaga Daisuke

As their name suggests, Wagakki Band is a co-ed eight-member rock group that presents a new sound by fusing traditional Japanese instruments with a band.
While they now have many original songs, in their early days they mainly performed covers of VOCALOID tracks—among which one of the most popular was this song by the Vocaloid producer Kurousa-P.
A VOCALOID piece born in Japan, with Japanese-style scales and lyrics, and performances using traditional instruments—there may be no other work that embodies Japanese-made music with such purity.
B BLUETakahashi Makoto

This is the fourth single by BOØWY, the legendary rock band that influenced countless others.
Even people who haven’t listened to much BOØWY, or those from younger generations, have probably heard this song at least once.
With a standard yet tight rhythm section, a catchy guitar that’s distinctive and commanding, and rock vocals that grab the listener’s heart, it’s a track released in 1986 that still hasn’t faded with time—a number that is always mentioned when discussing the history of Japanese rock.
